The Role
I would argue that i enjoyed my placement to a large extent, this is because my team did a lot to get me involved. They made me feel like a part of the family straight away. In addition to this my manager was so caring and understanding towards me, so I really enjoyed it.
To a large extent, I'd probably say, and this is because they all treated me like I'd been a member of the team for years. Furthermore they all took personal time to help me with my development and to guide me in understanding my role more and how it helped the team. They really brought me in like I was family.
To a HUGE extent. My line manager as well as my 'buddy' for the internship both assured that I always had plenty to do and in addition to that were always keen to ask me if I thought I needed more support or whether I felt I was receiving much guidance.
I found myself having lots of bits and bobs to do. I was constantly doing something. Never really found myself being bored, they always gave me a constant stream of work to get my hands on. It was very satisfying and very nice to be utilised the way I was
I was given a reasonable amount. I wasn't there for too long, so I wasn't given too much responsibility, but I was given a reasonable amount based on how long I was therefore, as well as what I could actually take on as an intern. In overall I was given a decent amount
I think the skills I picked up will help me in terms of my degree by helping me focus more. I learnt to be more focused while on this internship as well as improving on my communication skills, which orally will help me participate in seminars and how in written terms, will help me be more consist with my essays.
The Company
It was amazing. It was very chilled out, everyone had a big 'work hard, play hard' mentality and would work hard when needed to. As well as always being up for a chat when they've got time. Everyone was very friendly and it was a nice safe environment. it was good.
It was well organised to be honest. There were some delays at the start of my placement which hindered me from starting but even despite that the team still had plenty for me to be involved in, showing their organisational prowess, as even though there was a disruption to the plan, it went fine.
They did a lot. they gave me a lot of compulsory training that all employees had to do, but also gave me huge lessons in things I wasn't so well versed in. Such as cyber security in regards to things such as phishing, malware threats, and others, it was very intensive.
Flexi Time
Working from home
They are very appealing. They have a graduate Scheme, that gives graduates from university an excellent start at the organisation with plenty of room to move forward and progress. It grants them with many clear paths of progression. As well as this they have an apprenticeship scheme that allows people with A-levels a chance onto progressing far into the company
The Culture
it was maaaaaaaaaaaad!!!! There was always somewhere to go, and A HUGE SHOUTOUT TO WHYNOT IN EDINBURGH... That club is mayhem, it's sooooooo good! We had so many mad nights there, it was splendid ahaha. £2 tequalia shots on a Friday were pretty tasty too. All in all it was a sick experience
