The Role
Not my area of expertise, quite the opposite, found new concepts difficult to grasp and took me a while to settle in due to lack of knowledge and experience. However I was given better suited tasks towards middle of internship.
Felt a little useless and anxious at times. However, colleagues all very warm and friendly/ wanted to help out and regular check ups to make sure I was coping okay.
Lots of support and guidance. Check ins and 1 to 1s put me at ease and gave me some reassurance that I was doing okay.
The work load for me was about right. Not too excessive. Just the right amount for me to carry without getting too stressed/over faced alongside picking up brand new skills and learning about the business.
I don't think I was given lots of responsibility, my manager ensured I was feeling comfortable without too much pressure.
Although my degree is not relevant to the nature of the business, I believe I have picked up some incredibly useful and valuable transferrable skills.
The Company
Quiet enough to allow for me to concentrate, clear that everyone was working hard and genuinely cared for their individual work roles and responsibilities, this environment. Everyone very supportive of each other and warm, willing to chat.
This was done very well. I think it was better that there was no set out journey for me, it allowed my manager to learn more about me before setting tasks, so that she could cater the internships to my strengths.
We got to speak with every department of CB-MM, to introduce ourselves and learn how the different roles work together to form a team.
Not something I want to go into. The internship was helpful, but was never something i could see myself working in.
The Culture
All other interns very friendly and professional. I particularly got along with my charity challenge team very well.
Average costs.
Leeds has a decent nightlife scene.
Work very intense and long, so, for me, no. Not used to full time so internship had to be my main point of concentration. Quite demanding.
