The Role
I think this was a wonderful experience overall. Nomura is a great company to work for, with a great work environment and people always ready to give advises and to teach you about the job. Of course you have to work hard, but you are rewarded by a great experience and by learning a lot
The culture here is amazing. People are friendly and always ready to help and to give advises.
I worked in a great team, with people helping me, which is great for starting the internship. On the other hand they were able to give me responsibility and work to do alone. I think there was a perfect trade off between letting me try by myself and guiding me by teaching.
I was really busy. One thing to be taken into account is that it changes over time. There are some times during which there is not too much to do, while it can become suddenly very busy. But this aspect is intrinsic in the job and not about Nomura by itself.
It changed over time, giving me more responsibility as time went on and as I understood how it worked.
For my degree it is very helpful, since it is strictly linked with what I did here in Nomura. But I think it is helpful for the future, regardless the degree you study. In fact, it gives plenty of skills on Excel, Power Point and on how to relate on the job, which is helpful whatever you want to do in life.
The Company
There was a great atmosphere, thanks to the firm's culture and the people working there. Probably this is subjective on each experience, but I really liked the friendly environment. On the other hand, a good aspect is that it was also serious and focused on the job to do. I think it was simply great.
I found the internship well organized, until the tiniest detail.
I think this is one of the best aspect of my internship in Nomura. The feeling I got is about people being really interested in your development and being willing to invest in interns. This felling I got was both from HR and career perspectives, as well as from the people I directly worked with in the team
Subsidised Canteen
I think it is vey appealing for students entering the job market. In fact the firm is willing to invest in workers, delineating a proper career path. Moreover, the environment shows a great learning curve. To conclude, this is a great place to start working in, with perspectives for the future.
The Culture
There was time to interact with fellow interns, mainly thanks to the first week of training (less intense than actual work) and thanks to social events. It was also possible to create connections with colleagues, even seniors, also taken into account the number of hours spent to work together and thanks to the meal times.
London, especially the City is very expensive. On the other hand the salary are proportionate, therefore you can actually live well in the area.
the nightlife in the neighbourhood of the bank is not so developed, since it is a working area, with mainly offices. On the other hand, there are plenty of nice places to eat and enjoy the evening, Moreover, London offers so many opportunities and different areas around the city that you simply have to move around to enjoy it.
The work takes a huge number of working hours, meaning that you do not have a lot of time to get involved in external activities. On the other hand it is about organizing your tasks. If you manage to, you can find some time for yourself and for outside work activities
