The Role
Overall I definitely enjoyed the internship, I liked that it is what you make of it, in that you can push for work/shadowing in different areas so you aren't limited to the team you're placed in. I also enjoyed how much I learned from the internship.
I got on really well with my team, I feel I could've been given more responsibility which may have made me feel more valued, but I feel like the work I did was valued by colleagues.
Weekly 1 to 1's to review my work, what the team want me to do and what I want to achieve. I also had a mid-internship review and other meetings with my line manager to review my progress.
I found that if you wanted to be busier it was up to you to reach out and ask for work from other teams, shadow different areas of the bank or make the most and expand on work that I was given. I had lots of side of desk challenges which I could focus on at the less busy points.
I would've liked to have been given a bit more responsibility during my placement, but realize 10 weeks is quite a short time to integrate enough to take on projects with more responsibility.
There is loads of training offered and a huge amount of e-learning that you can choose to do yourself. Lots of colleagues offered learning sessions on a wide range of skills.
The Company
Everyone in the office is incredibly friendly and approachable.
Dealing with emerging talent at Lloyds was really well organised. he only issue was the vetting process which Lloyds outsourced and was incredibly disorganized.
I feel LBG has invested a huge amount in me with lots of training and development offered.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Depending on your internship performance, there is a really good grad scheme which you can be referred to.
The Culture
I found that this is what you make of it, some people are really social and others not so much.
LBG provided accommodation. I was in London so cost of living is fairly expensive but there is a London allowance which helps with this.
London, so pretty good!
Lots of our challenges involved organizing external events which you could attend.
