The Role
I'd say it's been a great experience. I learnt a lot, built new relationships, improved upon my soft skills and otherwise, and generally had a good time, surrounded by my teammates and other colleagues. The only downside would probably be that at times, it felt that the job description should have come with an "Introverts need not apply" disclaimer. It was so easy to feel out of place due to my reserved nature.
The amount of responsibility, independence, and support provided by my teammates made me feel extremely valued, and made me feel like I was a full member of the team already. At times I had to remind myself that I was just an intern. I'm lucky to have been surrounded by such great people.
There was a lot of support and guidance built into the internship, such as mentorship schemes, buddy pairings, formal training sessions, informal training sessions, documentation, networking opportunities, employee events, among many others. This all contributed to a general atmosphere of the company willing to give me whatever I needed to succeed. Amazing.
I'd say time flew by, given that there always were goals to accomplish. There were slow days and packed days, given that at times there'd be delays or blocking issues with respect to completing one task or another. In summary, I never felt bored, and I likewise never felt overworked. Balanced.
I was given real, tangible tasks and projects, which allowed me to learn a lot on the job, and keep me motivated that I was contributing something tangible, and doing something "real". I was happy with the degree of responsibility I was given, and I put in my very best to fulfill expectations.
With this internship, I was able to not just deepen my technical skills, I was able to develop soft skills like teamwork, patience, critical thinking, among others. Being able to put myself to the test in this way, in this internship, made for a great experience and has allowed me to grow professionally. Indeed, I'd say the skills I've picked up will last a lifetime.
The Company
It was pretty relaxed in my division (technology). Everyone tends to be focused, and there's a lot of teamwork on the floor. Serious, but relaxed. I think every one knew how to handle themselves well, and treated each other properly. Teams relate well, meetings are well organized, and everyone's professional.
I'd say the amount of structure to be found on the internship - at least in my line of business - was astounding. There were HR representatives assigned to specific tasks, job assignments and onboarding were properly handled, events were coordinated smoothly, and roles were always clearly defined. It couldn't be better.
I'd say the bank invests a lot in its interns, considering the amount of responsibility we were allowed to take on, and the sheer number of on- and off-the-job training sessions organized by the bank. We were given all the tools needed to succeed, and it was very clear that the bank was interested in our growth.

Your mileage may vary. Employment prospects appear to depend on a number of variables, many of which are obfuscated. Performance levels during the internship appear to be just one of many many factors. That aside, I'd say Bank of America Merrill Lynch is a very appealing place to work at, with a great work culture, and a practice of taking care of its own. Personally, I think I've done well, and would have a good chance of getting a job in slightly different circumstances (Opening on the team, and interest in the available role(s))
The Culture
Yes, definitely. There were so many events organized for the intern class, and this enabled us to build networks and develop relationships that can be leveraged upon in the future.
It's been well documented how expensive it is to live in London. However, the bank compensates interns accordingly to account for that.
I hear the nightlife is good. I'm a homebody however, so I wouldn't really know.
Yes. There was a huge number of sports, social, and volunteering activities to get stuck into outside work, and share experiences with colleagues outside the work sandbox. London is a big and boisterous city, and there's always so much to do in it. The opportunities are endless, to be honest.
