The Role
I enjoyed my internship a lot. Especially the supportive and collaborative environment, as well as the many development opportunities Centrica provide really stood out.
I was given real responsibility, constructive feedback and recognition throughout my placement. I was able to develop relationships and improve my skillset by learning from my team members.
I was given support but was also encouraged to be proactive and inquisitive. Guidance was continuously given.
I took on a lot of work at first, without realising that would mean a couple of late nights. However, these were enjoyable as I liked what I was doing and I learned a lot.
I was given as much responsibility as possible, considering may previous lack of finance knowledge.
I have decide to pursue a career in Finance and the skills I have learnt will be invaluable.
The Company
Very friendly, albeit quiet at times. Lot's of people work from other offices or from home, which can sometimes dampen the atmosphere.
The placement was well organised and development opportunities scheduled. Weekly newsletters reminded us of our tasks and the talent team were always happy to assist. However, there is a real divide between the interns based in the North/South and some interns had line managers that were working from another office locations which made communication difficult.
The company invested in us heavily. I would have enjoyed some more emotional insight training however, as this is only available to graduates.

Working from home
The company is undergoing transformation and the job roles are decreasing/changing. Graduates are a hot commodity however, so job prospects are solid.
The Culture
The internship is very social amongst the Windsor interns, less so in other locations.
Windsor can be quite expensive, especially if you are used to the prices up North.
There are limited clubs and bars. London is a good night out but pricey and difficult to get to.
Potential for improvements, for example dance clubs.
