The Role
I found it a really valuable experience and learnt alot of new skills. The internship was very varied and I was able to ask for additional experiences to assist me in job applications.
I felt really valued and that the work I was doing was helpful to the team. Everyone was very supportive and friendly.
I was assigned a mentor who provided me help/advice which was great as meant I had a specific point of contact if I wanted to discuss anything, including my work. The rest of the team I was working with also gave me support when required, which again added to me feeling valued by my colleagues. There was also additional support and guidance provided by the individual in charge of the internships. The CV and interview training day we received was really useful and I learnt alot from it. In addition the induction days we undertook at the start of the internship were very helpful in providing an overview of the charity.
I was busy, but not so busy that I was overwhelmed with the work. I felt the internship offered the right balance for me, and I was able to ask for more taks/experiences.
I was given the right amount of responsibility for an intern - I supported other members of staff as well as working independently on my own project. I always knew who I could speak to/discuss my responsibilities/projects with so I never felt overwhelmed with the experience
The skills I developed will be extremly valuable for future jobs. The training will also be really useful in the future. I also had input on the projects I worked on during my internship which allowed me to develop specific skills I require for future work
The Company
The office atmosphere was professional but friendly
The internship was very well organised, I received all the information required for all of my projects and knew in advance what I woudl be doing. The training sessions we received were also very well organised.
The CV training we received was very informative and useful
I would definatly consider working within the organisation
The Culture
The large amount of interns meant that there were always people you would recognise. Colleagues were very friendly
I commuted into my placement so cost of living isn't applicable. The cost of socialising was variable as there are a range of places to go
Didint really experience nightlife. Lots of nice pubs around though.
Large amount of volunteering opportunities e.g. at events
