The Role
Overall, DB's internship program is well structured & provides a lot of opportunities for training/networking. I really appreciate the effort HR has been making. One area of improvement is that I struggled a lot with IT set-up at the beginning of my internship.
- My colleagues are kind, helpful and fair - However, atmosphere-wise, the team was a bit down when I joined - probably due to the recent restructuring - The team lacks a proper newcomer integration/training program - I did not like the fact that I have to push for my own objective setting & mid-term feedback - In general, I feel a lack of leadership - probably because we don't have a managing director
- Guidance on the job is always very clear - My seniors always answer my questions - I would appreciate more explanation on the context of the task / reasons why we do things in a certain way
Stress level is not as high as I would expect for an IBD job
appreciate the fact we have our personal project, helped a lot on applying what we've learnt to practice otherwise, analyst job in corporate finance is more tedious than creative - which is understandable given the little tolerance of mistakes in the job
the internship helped me understand the job better, also helped me learnt a lot of job-specific skills ; however, from the stand point of a finance graduate, this internship helped limitedly on transferable skills
The Company
People don't talk a lot - probably because everyone is very busy
IT access/software installation/database account set up can be done before the relative training Would appreciate if HR can instruct team assistant to teach us how to use printer/phone/show us around on the first day we hit the desk
I can see that the firm invested a lot.
Company Parties/Events
It is a well-organized large corporation with the intent to invest on juniors Atmosphere wise a bit down, but people are in general kind and helpful
The Culture
Yes there is - the first week of training helped
Balanced - you can find expensive options as well as cheap ones
