The Role
Enjoyed it thoroughly, people were willing to impart knowledge onto you and adjust based on what level you are at, felt really welcomed to the bank
You can't add much value in a global markets internship as you learn by shadowing mainly
Was assigned a buddy and manager and a mentor, really good support system in place to make sure you are a good fit for the team
Worked on projects assigned but it was up to you as to how busy you want to be, you can ask other teams for projects as well.
Given projects to do, and a presentation to deliver at the end of each rotation, otherwise its up to you
A lot is learning on the job so what I learnt at the internship won't help with future studies, but will help in the workplace environment
The Company
Fast paced environment, when it was busy it got hectic, when it was quiet people had time to talk to you and catch up
HR organised speakers to let interns learn more about the various desks on the floor, could have had more after work events with business people. Was only communicated very late when the next rotation started.
1st week of the internship was a training week held by an external trainer, so the bank was really invested in our training
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Good company, good culture and people, would like to work here
The Culture
Yes good social scene, often went to the pub on Fridays
London is London
Good, quite central so easy to get around
Some events were organised, e.g. touch rugby tournament, white water rafting etc
