The Role
I interned in GLM within corporate treasury. The people were all very nice but I found the work rather dull and repetitive.
Everyone was very friendly and welcoming when I arrived. People generally have lots of time for you and are keen to give you the opportunity to ask lots of questions. There was also a good range of events to let you get to know the employees and other interns.
There is generally plenty of feedback on anything you do, and people don't expect you to pick everything up straight away.
For most of the internship I had a good level of work, however the last few weeks got quite boring as the work dried up.
I was doing work for various people and was setting up Skype calls with the US to explain my findings, so there was a fair bit of responsibility. Most of the work I was doing was the most basic stuff, though.
I gained a fair bit from the internship in terms of confidence and general work experience. However the technical skills learned, other than a bit of Excel, will probably not come in that useful in future.
The Company
Lots of food gets brought in, and there's free hot drinks. And people are always friendly and happy to chat. Often can get a bit boring though when there isn't much work to do.
The training was well organised, and there were plenty of well organised events for all the interns. Integrating us into the team was also done pretty smoothly.
They gave us lots of training. Most of it was specific to our area of work, but there was also plenty from other areas just to give us a view of the bigger picture.

Company Parties/Events
I think the organisation would be a good one to work for, however I would not consider a job in corporate treasury.
The Culture
There were lots of events organised for our team, which we attended with the employees from our division, and they were great fun. There were also plenty of events organised for us with the other interns, who came from all around the world and were generally very easy to get on with.
It's London so it's expensive. Most of the events for the interns were fully paid for though, and you get a relocation bonus for moving to London.
There's no shortage of things to do in London.
The company has various networks, sports teams, and gives volunteering opportunities to its employees.
