The Role
I really enjoyed my internship with BofAML, the work was interesting and covered a broad range of topics. My team members were really helpful and wanted to see me develop across the internship. The recruitment team make the transition really easy and arrange numerous socials which help you get to know the other interns both from your division and outside.
Everyone makes you feel part of the team and are really patient as throughout the internship you will have a lot of questions whether about division specific applications or the work which you are completing and they are always willing support. Not only this but colleagues from other teams are always willing to chat and provide you with an insight into the work that they do helping you to broaden your understanding of the division.
The support and guidance is really strong at the bank whether that's from specific pieces of work or your general performance on the internship. The bank provides you with a buddy and mentor who provide you with different views on what you gain from the internship. This blend of analyst/associate support with more senior advice make it easy to get on with your work and understand how you can improve.
You are always busy whether with work, training or networking. Your line manager helps to manage your workflow so that you are to make full use of your time here
I was provided with a surprising amount of responsibility- being trusted to complete research and present my findings to other departments making recommendations was a shock at first but you get the support and advice to develop your pitching and presenting skills.
It has helped me understand more effectively the role of banks and the banking system in the wider world. It has helped me gain a greater understanding of what is written in business journals and understand the process behind key transactions which you see in the wider world.
The Company
Extremely well organised- it was clear that the recruitment team had really tried to make your time at the Bank enjoyable with well run training programs, social and networking events.
The firm invested heavily with a training week at the start of the internship. Further to this there was weekly training run by HR and also division training run by people on the floor.
Sports and Social Club
The Culture
This was not applicable as I lived at home.
Very good, a lot of pubs, bars and clubs.
There were many opportunities such as networking events, sports activities such as football and tag rugby. Also there is the opportunity to complete the JP Morgan Challenge which include a bank wide barbeque afterwards which allowed you to network with divisions who you would not be in contact with in your daily work.
