The Role
I very much enjoyed my placement as I had the opportunity to experience a whole range of tasks and see how a consultant actually works. Whenever I was stuck or needed help there was always someone to help me and help answer my questions which ensured I was never confused.
Even though I was an intern, I felt like I was a part of the team. I was not treated like an intern or anyone lower, but like a regular analyst. This made me feel comfortable in the environment I was in, and everyone is friendly and willing to help.
Whenever I had any questions, members of my team were always willing to help. Even if it was a question they were not familiar with, they will always pass you onto someone else and not leave you on your own. It's true when they say 'no question is a silly question'!
Some days were busier than others which was a nice variation. On some days I had plenty of tasks and deadlines, however on other days things would be slower, with fewer emails, and less work to do. If there was less work in my area then people from other teams would reach out for extra help.
I was given the same amount of responsibility as all the other analysts in my team, which was really nice. I wasn't given any different work or treated any different just because I was an intern, so I was made to feel like a part of the team which was nice.
Some of my training was in Excel, which was very helpful as some of my university degree entails Excel also. The presentation skills we learnt are skills for life that can help us grow and help improve our confidence in times we have to present to a great big audience.
The Company
people were friendly however a lot of people were under stress and this was visible to see. during the busy times of the project everyone just wants to get their work done, so not everyone is as friendly as you'd hope but the people in your team are willing to help.
the initial week was induction week where we had a task to do and present back at the end of the week. we didn't have much time to do the task as there were a lot of other things going on in this week so it was stressful and we did have to work evening to get our presentations sorted.
they arranged for us to have Excel training and also presentations to improve our presentation skills, networking skills, personal branding skills, and how to introduce ourselves to someone new in the best way possible (elevator pitch). this was helpful and is a skill I can take with me into the future.

The Culture
yes, they arranged for us to meet up towards the end of our placement so we all got the chance to catch up on our projects. it was nice to see what everyone had gotten up to after the entire 8 weeks and you can really see how much everyone has grown!
London - so it's expensive! Some people on out of town projects obviously had it cheaper
