The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed working for the company, but there were some points within my specific project where I did not have a huge amount to do which made the experience slightly less enjoyable.
I worked across 2 projects during my time with Accenture. During the first project, I really felt like I was adding value to the team - evident due to the pieces of work they gave me. On my second project (as it was only 2 weeks) I didn't feel as valued because I did not have as significant period of time to become apart of the team.
My manager on my first project was amazing, she really advised me on how to make the most of my placement and helped me make the most out of my experience.
I never felt particularly stretched in the amount of work I was required to do. There were a few days where my workload was heavy, but in general I felt that I was often waiting to be set tasks on an adhoc basis.
I felt like my project was difficult to delegate responsibility due to the short and fast-paced nature of the project. I sometimes had important pieces to complete, but more often than not I was more assisting with bigger tasks.
I have learnt huge amounts about time management and learning to focus on tasks in had. In addition, I have developed my organisational skills as well as learn huge amounts about specific computer applications that will benefit me during my final year of my degree studies.
The Company
The Accenture home office is amazing, it is such a collaborative working environment. Obviously, a lot of the time we are based at client site, but Accenture make sure you have everything you need in order to feel comfortable wherever you are working. The head office is very friendly, and you feel welcome.
From the onboarding to the offboarding, the administration side to the internship was really well organised. I felt like they gave us all of the information we needed within plenty of time, and were very responsive to any questions we had. During the internship, it was easy to get hold of HR representatives for questions. The only part that was not as well organised was the placement of interns onto client projects, a lot of us had to try and find the projects ourselves which was very difficult and I believe a reason why I did not have as much responsibility as I would have liked.
We were given a week of training including technical skills such as excel. We had some excellent talks from very experienced people on networking and personal branding, which are things that I would not have given as much importance before. We were also given our own set of equipment, which meant we could fully work on projects without any restrictions.

Working from home
I have been offered a graduate placement with them, and I am strongly likely to take this. However, the flexible nature of the job and changing projects makes me consider what other options there are for me.
The Culture
We had 2 organised social events throughout the 8-weeks but other than that it was not particularly social. However, I think that this is due to the fact that all of the interns were placed on client projects throughout the country, making it difficult to meet up during the week.
Living, working and travelling in the city of London is expected to be expensive.

As a company, Accenture is very inclusive in the activities you can get involved in. However, as an intern only here for a short period of time (8-weeks) it wasn't very practical to become involved in activities outside of work. This is especially because it was the summer when many employees are on holiday.
