The Role
I had a fantastic year at Accenture, being involved in diverse projects and with very engaging teams. As a placement student I didn't know how I would find the corporate life however Accenture really took me under their wing through the buddy scheme (where you are paired with a graduate when you join who have been in your position before and help you, they are someone you can comfortably ask those so called 'silly' questions to). Not only have I developed numerous invaluable skillsets to take forward with me but also made lots of new friends.
The people at Accenture really made my experience, they want to help you learn and grow as an individual. I never felt belittled or patronised by my colleagues - they really respect placement students for taking the opportunity at our age and want to create the best opportunities for you.
Both of my managers throughout the year were very supportive and encouraging, providing lots of fantastic opportunities I didn't ever think a placement student would be involved in. Throughout my placement I had regular catch ups with my managers to discuss my progress, what I wanted to achieve and to gain feedback to help me develop.
Depending on the day to day and work stream demand of my projects my workload varied a little but I was never sat with nothing to do, this also allowed me to become more independent and proactive in being ahead of the game and making decisions or recommendations when my workload was less.
I was given large amounts of responsibility particularly when dealing with senior stakeholders, this really allowed me to develop and grow in confidence as an individual. I had the ability to take responsibility in making recommendations and creating action plan.
I have developed a large range of skills, these will be very useful taking forward to my final year whether this be organisation or a more established practical understanding of the theory learnt. Not only will they be useful for my degree but for life in general - I had many opportunities to. I have learnt it is equally valuable if not more to listen and learn from others as much as it is to share your own opinion.
The Company
The atmosphere of the office really varied. Within a consulting role you wont often be located in Accenture's main office so the atmosphere between clients can be very diverse however I have not been in an environment where it is hostile. As cliché as it is but having witnessed it myself the people at Accenture are what makes the difference so you will always be welcomed no matter where you are.
Accenture have a strong group of placement students from a mixture of universities along with summer internships.
Accenture were very invested in helping me develop and grow as much as possible throughout my year. I attended a training course and received a qualification in Leading SAFe helping me to further understand a way in which companies are working when delivering constant changes within a changing environment.

Accenture is a very appealing organisation to work for - there are many opportunities and diverse routes to take depending on an individuals interest. There are opportunities to grow and move up within the organisation making this appealing to ambitious people. Due to the diverse nature of clients and the changing of projects you have the opportunity to do something different.
The Culture
Accenture is a very sociable company to work for. Many of the fellow student are likeminded whilst also bringing their difference and individuality to the table. We all have a WhatsApp group where we regularly talk and arrange to meet up after work, go out and arrange social activities.
London is an expensive place to live however we receive a salary so we weren't limited on our social activities and the cost of living can massively vary depending on how much you would like to spend and where. Some people who lived close enough to London would save on rent by living at home and commuting in.
Accenture's main office is located by Monument so is in an ideal location - there are many bars on the doorstep but also it is very accessible and easy to get to areas in central London for a fun night out for all sort of vibes whether it be live music at Piano Works or Blues Kitchen.
Yes there were opportunities to get involved with activities outside of work, Accenture have a Yammer page whereby you can join different clubs or societies whether it be Women in Tech, Football or Wine Society. Also there are other activities you can get involved with when working with your client too.
