    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed the challenging nature of the work as I was able to learn a lot from it. Was also given a lot of support from my team which helped me enjoy it. Would have liked more variety in my day to day tasks as a lot of them involved spread sheets and working with data.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt valued by my colleagues and were delegated a lot of work from them. I felt trusted as I was given work and was often left to do it independently and on my own accord. My team also let me organize projects in groups and delegate it to others.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given support and guidance when asked, but performance reviews were infrequent.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • How busy I was often fluctuated. Some days I would be excessively busy and have to meet some tight deadlines by the end of the day which involved staying later in the office. On other days however I was not as busy and had little work to do which often led me to asking for more work.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given quite a few major projects during my placement which involved me getting given quite a lot of responsibility early on. I was often trusted to carry out projects and hence was given a lot of responsibility in planning and organizing the way I was going to carry this out.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe my skills on excel have developed greatly during my internship and I believe this is a key skill for future employment, as most jobs today involve being able to understand/manipulate data and work on spread sheets. I also believe my time management and organization skills have improved after being given multiple tasks to juggle.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere in my office was very good. It was a fast paced and busy working environment which helped motivate me to work harder. At the same time it was also a fun environment as between work, people would often like to chat and unwind. In addition it was a very nurturing and helpful environment.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I believe the internship was fairly well organized. I believe the team I worked with was highly organized as they had planned and provided me with multiple tasks from the outset. I was also assigned a team member to work very closely with from whom I learnt a lot from. From a HR perspective it was a bit more disorganized as some key pieces of information which would have been useful were not communicated clearly from head office

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I believe the company did invest a lot into my training and development as I was taken aside a lot by my colleagues in order to be taught important information even though it may have not been necessarily related to my work. I believe the team invested a lot of time in not just showing me how to do tasks, but why those tasks were being carried out.

  • The social scene amongst my fellow interns was fantastic and I could not have asked for a better group of people to live with during my time at this internship. Everyone here was very friendly and sociable. This involved socialising on the evenings and weekends together and eating together during lunchtimes.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Housing and accommodation during the internship was paid for, the cost of living and socialising was additionally very cheap.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife was very good in my area and I was lucky enough to be interning whilst the Edinburgh fringe festival was going on which helped make the nightlife even better. I would highly recommend the area I was in for other interns as it was a very good and fun time for all.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was several opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work. In addition to the festival and nightlife, the city was full of fun opportunities to explore. This included numerous gyms to join. I myself was able to attend martial arts classes which I found enjoyable. But most activities the average person would want to take part in were available here.
