About You
I really enjoyed the work placement at Barclays. It gave me a great understanding of the work that takes place in a banking firm. This was my first exposure to this so this opportunity stood out to me greatly. The staff working here very helpful and fantastic at all times.
I felt very valued by the staff working here. They always made sure that I was having fun and learning at the same time. They gave me the opportunity to see different aspects of banking everyday and this allowed me to get a great understanding of the work that takes place here.
I was given plenty of support and guidance throughout my insight programme at Barclays. My supervisor always made sure that I was understanding everything I was doing and if there was any doubt that he always made sure that it was cleared up immediately. This made sure that I was not having doubt and moving forwards in my experience.
I believe that I was able to develop many skills through this programme. The main skills being teamwork and leadership, I was able to in enhancing the skills by working with other students who were in a similar position to me. This allowed me to make friends and potential future colleagues. This was a fantastic experience for me.
The Company
The insight program was very well structured. The supervisor made sure I was experiencing something different everyday. This made the programme very interesting but also kept me excited about what I was going to be doing next. It was obvious that they had been doing this program for many of years.
That the atmosphere around the working place was very relaxed and very calm. It made me understand that this is somewhere where I wanted to be working in the future. Everyone was really friendly and always willing to help one another in their work. Even when I was stuck with when doing things, everyone was so willing to help me.
I believe that the Barclays firm put a lot of time and effort to improve me as a character especially with the skills that I possessed. They made it clear on the first day that companies were looking for not just candidates with good grades but beyond that, and this included the importance of having a diverse set of skills.
After completing the placement I was fully sure that this is somewhere I wanted to be working in the future. The things that stood out to me were the friendly and amazing atmosphere, and the varying job opportunities that were available in this firm. As this was my first exposure into the banking world, it left a very good impression on me.
The working culture around this banking firm is another aspect that really stood out to me. It was clear that hard work was expected from all workers but on top of this there a lot of time and effort was put into making sure that people were enjoying their work. For me this is something that's very important and something they value highly.
This placement was very useful to help me to help me think forwards towards my future career path. Before starting this firm I was not sure about what banking involved as a career. However this all changed after completing the insight programme. It gave me my first understanding and flavour of what it would be like to work as a banker and I was very happy with what was shown to me.
