The Role
I have really liked my internship for many reasons. I have learnt many things from a technical point of view as I had the chance to work on many different projects - buyside, sellside, fairness opinion, ipo. I have also learnt many stuff from a personal point of view. As I have worked with many analysts, I had to adapt to their way of working.
I really felt valued during all the internship. Each of the analysts I work with took time to answer all my questions, to taught me what they know to be a good analyst, from a personal, technical and administrative point of view. They also told me when I was doing a good job and pointed out my weaknesses so I could improve.
At the beginning, my supervisors asked me on which kind of deals I wanted to work on. Then, during all the internship they tried to put me on technical deals as I asked for it. Moreover, they gave me the right guideline when needed to so I could improve .
At the beginning of the internship I was not so busy and kept asking form some tasks to do. But at some points I got many projects in the same time had had to be multitask to deliver proper work. Until the end, I was very busy and even need to push back at some point.
I believe that I have gained in responsibility throughout the 2 months of the summer internships. At the beginning, I was doing very simple tasks but as I was more confident in my work, I believe analysts trusted me and gave me some more complicated tasks, as taking care of some part of the valuation.
I have actually finished my studies before doing the summer internship. So I would say that my studies have helped me a lot to understand basic concepts in accounting and finance needing in investment banking. But in another hand, I have learned many things during these past two months, as basic stuff to be a good analyst and much more.
