    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I very much enjoyed the Summer Scheme at Savills. I was involved in real work and learnt a lot. The other members of the office made me feel welcome and got me involved in both their work and socials.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I was given work that made a difference. The jobs I worked on were for clients, and the work I did was a part of the reports that were sent out.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The support was fantastic, I had a mentor throughout the scheme, and the team I was working in were also extremely helpful along with the wider office. HR were always on hand to help with any issues or questions.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I study Real Estate at University so the skills, contacts and experience I have gained will be invaluable moving forwards.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The scheme was very well structured, from the work I was involved in, to the departmental overviews and dial in calls. Everything was planned and ran efficiently.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was good. The work was completed to a high standard and gave me a great insight into the roles, and the other people in the office were always happy to involve me in lunches and social events too.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In terms of personal training and development, this scheme was extremely valuable for me as I am studying a Real Estate Degree. I was trained on Argus by other members in my team. It was great to gain an understanding of the professional software used in the industry and really helped to develop my skills in valuation which is key for both university and my APC.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I was working as a part of the team, working on real jobs for clients. I was not just left to do admin work or similar. I worked on gathering evidence, and spoke to agents and colleagues to help build a valuation and report. I also set up meetings with different teams to learn more about what work they did day to day and understand where I would like to go in the future.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Firstly, working within the Savills office day to day gives you an understanding of the general and environment in which you would be working in. Secondly, there were dial in calls and presentations from the head office in London giving overviews of the Savills culture and what it is like to work for Savills.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I already had a vague idea of my career path before starting at Savills, however the scheme of 4 weeks gave me time to talk to a wide range of people and plan in more detail which departments I would like to spend more time in moving forwards which was helpful.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid for the four weeks I worked within the company. I felt the amount I was paid was reasonable for a four week internship. Some other firms only offer unpaid work experience, so to be paid was great as it allowed me to spend time in the city I plan to move to after University.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were lots of opportunities to meet other people in the firm. Firstly I arranged meetings with people throughout different teams to gain an insight into their work. Secondly there were multiple social events and lunches which gave me the opportunity to meet people in a more informal environment.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking and social activities were good. I visited various different places around the city growing my knowledge of the key areas of the city. It also gave me an opportunity to talk to people and find out more about their roles. Expenses for the lunches would have improved the experience as some lunches can be quite expensive in comparison to a normal meal deal.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • As a part of the presentation done via dial in and online video, there was a section informing us of the activities you can get involved in. It would have been nice to hear more about this as it was only briefly covered, and mainly focused on London rather than regions.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, I would strongly recommend a summer scheme to a friend, and would strongly recommend Savills to a friend. I have gained a lot of knowledge from the experience and also built contacts that will be valuable in the future. It is key to build knowledge, experience and contacts as well as a degree within this industry.
