The Role
I have enjoyed it a lot. I have been given a lot of responsibility from the start which has led to my work being really interesting and allowing me to learn a lot. Everyone in my team and others through out the intern scheme have been great in organising and being helpful. This has been coupled with lots of opportunity to explore things that I have wanted to and also that others have recommended.
I have felt very valued by my colleagues. The incredibly friendly environment that they have set has been great. This has also been backed up by the responsibility required of me as I have felt that I have been doing work which has some benefit to my team and the company.
Since starting the support has been fantastic. The organisation and engagement from people in HR has been great for settling in and understanding how everything works. My line manager has been very approachable and given very good feedback to me through out. The only improvement on this would be more of the same but for before the internship had started as it felt like we were kept in the dark slightly.
Very busy, but enjoyably so. I have had lots of work set for the duration of my internship then between doing this work I have had lots of meetings, days away, trips and site exposure. This has given a good balance of different work and kept me focused and very interested throughout the internship.
I was give lots of responsibility. Especially running my continuous improvement (CI) project. This was a large bulk of my work which I was given a large amount of responsibility on throughout as I had to voice my opinion, organise meetings and come up with the solution to the problem. I then had to follow up on the actions for implementing the plan.
I have taken back a fair amount of technical knowledge of mechanical equipment on site but more importantly have been able to see what I learn about at university in the flesh which has allowed me to visualise what I have been learning. I will also be taking back group working experience and meeting experience.
The Company
The general atmosphere was great. Both in my team and on my whole office floor. This was definitely helped by the fact that I had a project where I had to integrate with lots of different teams throughout the office which allowed me to get to know a lot more people within the office.
The placement is very well organised from start to finish. Everything we needed from laptops to accounts and cards were all there from day 1 and then events and work and contacts were given throughout the internship. Events held in different locations were fantastically organised with travel and accommodation too. The only improvement for me would be organisation for interns before they start as I felt we were kept in the dark slightly.
The firm invested a lot of interest in me from training days to responsibility given at work to social events put on in different locations with different people which were great for understanding the business as a whole. I was given the opportunity to spend some time in London as well to find out more about upstream where everyone was incredibly happy to talk to me.

The Culture
The social scene was really good throughout the internship. I had several events in Hull that I attended in my team, with the other grads and interns and then we had the eevent in london with the other interns which was great. the social in covent garden was really good and it was really good to see the canary wharf interns too.
