The Role
I enjoyed it quite a lot. They give you free lunch and flex friday (work an hour longer every day but take every other friday off) is quite good.
I had skills in python that a lot of my colleagues don't, so felt pretty good. 99% of people I met were nice and friendly as well.
My manager wasn't the most hands on, but I think it varies with who you get as your line manager.
Sometimes busy sometimes quiet. Always something to do but it may not be the most interesting thing. Lots of opportunities to get involved in committees.
Not much really. Depends on department I think, in SIM we're quite business facing, and felt a little like anything I did had to be checked before we talk to anyone.
Learned a load of python, and my manager made opportunities to meet with people in other areas of the business to talk about what they do, which were related to my masters degree next year.
The Company
Middle of the road really.
Very organised. Had specific intern activities such as a charity day and a poster competition. Set 11 weeks, with weekly meetings with your manager, a mid internship review and an end of internship review to determine if you get a graduate position
I invested in myself, using the tools they provided
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Quite good. Not sure I'd want to be in SIM though
The Culture
yeah we organised things to do, and had lunch with each other.
I lived at home, but I know some people were at the organised accommodation which was £30 a night.
Sunbury doesn't have nightlife
Yep. Committees were plentiful. Things like Women in stem, socials etc.. Intern socials organised too.
