The Role
Everyone has been incredible friendly and I have always felt included and trusted within my team. It has been a challenging and fulfilling 9 weeks, with lots of work but an amazing amount of support. The Grad recruiters were also very kind and helpful throughout the whole process. I would thoroughly recommend this placement.
Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my time here. I did not meet a single unpleasant person, and all colleagues trusted in my ability to deliver projects. I was given real responsibility which is something that many interns do not have.
Guidance was struck with the perfect balance. I was encouraged to go and find things out on my own, which I was able to do in most cases, but any questions or larger problems were dealt with quickly and effectively by my line manager
Things did feel quite busy at some points, and I did have to work longer hours than was suggested in my contract now and then, but it was valuable and fulfilling work so I didn't mind. My team also works from home on Fridays which is good.
Lots of responsibility! People were actually surprised by how much I was doing throughout my time here, and were always checking to make sure I was okay with the amount of work I was doing.
Time management and also communication skills were big things I developed further in my time here. I also started using and exploring techniques I never thought I would in the internship.
The Company
The general atmosphere was really positive, with high levels of engagement between senior members of staff and the rest of the team.
Every effort was made to ensure we were reaching our full potential and really engaging with the programme, with regular HR catchups and lots of feedback from line managers. The only slight negative was to do with IT issues at the beginning (getting laptops etc.) but this was very minor.
There was lots of investment in me as a person. Several people made the effort to help me achieve skillsets and learn about new things in a general context, as well as a Barclays specific one. I want to come back precisely because they have been so keen to help me develop further.

Very appealing. There are lots of opportunities available for those on the scheme, as well as the possibility to branch out to other areas of the bank.
The Culture
There was a great environment amongst the CBS interns, with regular catch-ups to see how everything was going. We also supported each other's events and had a great level of communication with HR.
London is expensive, so this has to be factored into the cost of living, but Barclays offers a very generous living allowance to cover most of this cost.
London has easy access to lots of nightlife and cool places to go out. In the immediate area it is more pubs and bars but it is still very nice
Yes. I went to several Spectrum events and my team also did lots. It would be nice to have more events with the wider division though.
