The Role
I thought that I would dread waking up everyday for the hour journey, but working here was an absolute pleasure and I was excited to come in to work every day! As well as a brilliant working environment there were so many extra activities such as Quiz night and go-karting that we could be a part of.
I thought that internships meant doing menial tasks that wouldn't really play a big part in the day to day operations of things but that is not the case with GVC. I was set tasks that would actually be beneficial to the company and was even allowed to head my own project that was then passed onto management to look at the findings.
This internship went above and beyond to insure that we felt comfortable and supported in our roles. We not only had our managers but we also had buddies in our team to go to if we needed any advice or needed to know any "unwritten rules". On top of that we also had a mentor that was outside of our teams to go to if there was anything we wanted to discuss about work.
Due to being given a personal project to head, the workload was quite a lot, but that is what you really want from a placement. I've learnt so many skills that I wouldn't have learnt if I hadn't been pushed outside of my comfort zone.
As mentioned above, I was given the responsibility of leading my own project which not only helped me learn how to manage a real project, but it also gave me more confidence in my ability to lead.
I've learnt so many different skills that I know will be useful in anything that I do in the future.
The Company
Loved the atmosphere!
The internship was so well organised, from the whole mentor system to even having a "lunch and learn" every Thursday where we were given a talk from senior leaders about all the different departments in the company.
The company invested in presentation training for all of the interns as well as putting their trust in us to do tasks that would actually be useful.
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
I would love to be able to get on the graduate scheme here which is 2 years long.
The Culture
Lots of events organised where the interns could network with both other interns and colleagues within the business.
Due to the office being in Stratford Westfield it can be considered quite expensive but all GVC employees get some discounts around the shopping center.
Well, it's London..
There were lots of activities that the interns could take part in!
