The Role
The work i was given was catered to my skills and what type of work i said i would like to do whilst on placement. It was really interesting because i was constantly learning at the same time even though it was still in my field. It was also great knowing that I was doing something that would make difference to the company.
I felt like i was member of the team from day one. My manager introduced me to everyone in my team on the first day and i sat down and spoke with each of them and learnt about their role. Whenever i needed help from someone in my team they were always happy to help. I was also given work which was important as oppose to being given basic mundane jobs.
My team had daily morning meetings where you would say what you were going to be doing in the day and then at the end if you had a problem then you would say and someone in the team would offer to help you with that issue. My manager everyday checked if i was doing okay, and was always happy to come to desk and help me with any issues that i was having and teaching me how to fix problems.
I was on a constantly working on my solo project everyday, so i was always busy, but the project requirements i sat down with my manager and discussed what we thought would be feasible to do within my 8 weeks and i was always busy, but never too busy. I also had group work separate to my solo project which i was easily able to fit in my week.
As an intern i wasn't given a lot of responsibility in terms of being in charge of certain business items. But i was left to my own devices with my own project which is going to be implemented into the business so they will be using whatever i created for them.
I think that what i learnt here i can easily transfer over to other jobs in my future. With having two separate projects to work on during the 8 weeks it really helped with time management. The training i received in coding from my manager and understanding ServiceNow after these 8 weeks i will be able to use in other jobs.
The Company
In the office everyone was really friendly and it was open plan which was great. I got to sit with my team and people in my department which was really good because then i learnt about other roles. It was a really fun office and every one was always laughing and treated you really well and was always happy to help or have a chat.
Considering this was the first year that they were doing something like this at the company it was really well organised meera and sepha did a fantastic job of organising these 8 weeks. They knew exactly what would happen each day and made sure that we had the best experience whilst working here.
The company got a lot of consultants in who helped us work on our presentation skills which was great. working with professionals who have worked with companies such a microsoft and KPMG was really great. They also allowed us to speak to executive board members such as the CEO and the CTO.

The Culture
Living in london is never going to be cheap. the office is not based in Zone 1 which made it slightly cheaper, however the prices were still expensive. We were paid quite well for interns due to these reasons. Going out - london drinks prices aren't great, so unless you've saved up you won't be going out until your first pay cheque.
In london there is always somewhere to go out and you can take tube ride to get to anyway and back. You just need to find a good place to go which won't have a huge entry fee and the drinks aren't expensive... but a night out in london will always be good.
Through the internship we did have some socials which the company ran and paid for which was great. Some of the activities we went on were GoKarting, community volunteering and parties. We also had the opportunity to visit shops to get to know the retail market and we could travel to the adult gaming centres.
