The Role
I loved my internship! I received lots of training on multiple areas (presentation, personal impact and tailored e-learning). I also had the opportunity to meet with senior leaders in the company including the CEO, CFO and Directors across different areas of the business - all were very invested in my internship and wanted me to gain as much as possible.
Whilst at GVC, everyone I met really appreciated me being there. I was given tasks and projects, and upon presenting and sharing my ideas, my manager, my team and other managers in my stream were really interested in my ideas and wanted to be able to use them day to day - I felt incredibly appreciated.
I was offered excel training, as well as other sorts of training too. My manager met with me frequently and answered any questions. We were also given a mentor and buddy each, these people were able to help in areas in and out of work. There was always guidance available.
I believe I was the right amount of busy. I was never bored or out of work, but neither was I stressed about meeting deadlines or not being able to complete tasks on time. I frequently had meetings, worked on my own tasks or objectives, and were taught new things!
I was given lots of responsibility. The work I was given really made a difference to the business. I was able to implement new ways of analysing data, as well as being able to be largely involved in the building and creating of a new product. My work has actually been used and this is incredibly rewarding.
I had very extensive excel training (and all I could do before was copy and paste) , this has helped increase my efficiency. I received training in presenting and personal impact - this has been helpful in any future career. My degree is unlikely to be massively impacted due to the nature of my course.
The Company
The atmosphere is unlike anything I have seen before - EVERYONE LOVES THEIR JOB! Sports and gaming is always on - this is lots of fun! People are so friendly, and everyone is always available and happy to help. Plus free tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc. It's fast paced and very exciting!
Very well organised. All details including expenses, travel, accommodation, socials etc were thought about (including paying for my hotel for the summer, my laundry and food). There was a constant point of contact who I always felt I could talk to and ask. The application process was smooth and I felt confident throughout.
We had personal impact training on our first day with a comedian which was fun and very useful! We had plenty of other training in excel and any area we requested really, it was very personalised. I feel like the company have invested in me individually as well as all the interns.

Very appealing! We met with many senior leaders (including CEO and CFO) in the company, all of whom were very inspiring. I learnt about plenty of opportunities and the industry is new, growing fast and adapting to the changing world - this creates plenty of opportunities and I am very excited by this!
The Culture
There was a very good social scene. It's either in London or Gibraltar! There are bars everywhere. I stayed in a hotel, and so did 4 other interns (all aged between 19-23), we spent lots of time together including going out for dinner, drinks, boat rides etc. There was lots to do and plenty of like minded people to meet.
It is fairly expensive. However, the company covered this. My hotel was paid for, transport covered, I was given £50 a week for laundry, and £30 a day for food! I actually saved money while working here! So whilst it is an expensive place to live, this was covered by GVC.
There is a good nightlife anywhere where there are students! So of course there was plenty to do. I never ran out of new places to go, or new things to try - it was great and an amazing experience. There are places to go all around and the company help you realise this.
Yes! We were frequently taken out for drinks, lunches and dinner. There were frequent socials (one we went to was in Spain in a beach club), we did go-karting, the crystal maze experience. We were definitely invested in. We were involved in quizzes, pizza parties and cocktails! During the World Cup we were taken out for dinner and drinks and had an exclusive bar area for every England game!
