The Role
I have really enjoyed my 8 weeks here. It was very well organised by the company and they made sure that we all felt like part of the team from the get go. I learnt a great deal in such a short space of time, and also had fun while learning.
I always felt valued by my colleagues. Even though GVC is a huge corporation, it has a start up vibe to it. Everyone is friendly and makes an effort. Even though I was an intern the whole team made sure I settled in well, and because of that I never really felt nervous.
My Manager organised a great programme for me which allowed me to learn so much very quickly. Furthermore I had some great additional support from colleagues both in my team and in different departments as well. Not everyone was supportive, however for the most part I had great people around me.
Very very busy, but in a good way. I always had new and exciting tasks to do which kept me on my toes. The industry is so fast paced, so you will always have something to do, there is hardly a dull moment. I had great exposure to the business and how things run on a daily basis.
Mixed, but that is expected. At the start I was not given a lot of responsibility, however I understand that because I was new to the company, and trust has to be earned. And after a few weeks of doing some tasks to understand the industry more I started to do some serious work that could potentially make a difference.
The skills I have learnt here will definitely help me with my degree going forward. Working in such a fast paced company helps you improve transferable skills. Transferable skills are so important in all forms of work and higher education. Organisation, time management and other skills like that have all gotten better throughout my time here.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was amazing. Everyone knows everyone, a lot of hard work goes on, however the sociable element in the office has been an integral part of me having a great time here. As a student it can be scary thinking about the working world, but once I saw what the office vibe was like it just helped me settle in.
It was so well organised, I can't speak highly enough of it. I was given full exposure to the department. I spent a week in each function of the department which I think is a great idea as I saw everything that goes on in the industry. They did a great job
The company invested a lot in me personally. I was in the Gibraltar office and had accommodation paid for me in addition to a daily food allowance all to help me financially. The company really do treat you well, and invest time ( and money) to make sure that you are ok.

Very appealing indeed, it seems as if career progression in the industry is very fast. There is a plan in place that if you are working hard, hitting your targets and getting results day in day out, the company will notice that and will offer you the chance of a promotion
The Culture
All the interns here were very very friendly. Everyone was naturally a bit nervous at the start however we were all friendly to each other and got to know each other very quickly. I have made some good friends here and some friends I have made here I hope that they remain in my life after the internship.
Gibraltar is cheap for food and drinks however living costs are expensive, however the company did cover a lot of that for me.
There are a lot of good bars where we were however there are not a lot of clubs there.
Yes there were, there were always social activities going on.
