About You
The experience day was insightful, well organised, clearly led and provided me with valuable skills and tips I can use in the upcoming vac scheme applications.
Each and every member of the team at bakers seemed genuinely interested in me and answered my questions in detail. I felt comfortable in the presence of higher level members of staff.
Questions were answered with detail and PowerPoint slides aided the flow of the sessions. At the end of the session I felt that I had sufficient knowledge of the recruitment process due to the clear guidance through tasks/talks and support with queries and questions.
I now know what grades are required within my degree studies to apply for training contracts/vac schemes. The session on CV writing was particularly useful and,I believe most valuable as this is the initial stage of the application process.
The Company
The whole day was divided into different sessions which were each given a time frame. Some of my questions for the trainees/lawyers came from the recruitment/application process session which was placed at the end of the day and this meant that I did not have the opportunity to ask these questions.
The overall atmosphere was positive and encouraging. I felt that each member of the group was included and had equal opportunities to engage in tasks and sessions. The member ms of staff I spoke to inspired me to ‘go for it’ and improved my self-belief and confidence!
During he networking lunch the team member so spoke to took time to talk through my options, listened to my questions and worries and gave me the re-assurance and assistance that I was looking for.
One of the main things I picked up on throughout the whole day was the inclusive, diverse and fun atmosphere Bakers has to offer. I particularly enjoyed listnening about the family-like approach to work which comes from a smaller pool of workers and the creative and innovative style of work. This is something that is particularly appealing to me.
When talking to members of staff about their experiences at Bakers I felt as though teamwork, ,creativity and innovation were key to the way the company functions. Learning about Bakers position within the stonewall league was proof of their dedication and passion for diversity within the workplace.
The content not only helped me decide that I wanted to take the path into a legal career but also explained how to go about this.
Everything Else
I did not expect the firm to reimburse any personal expenses.
There was a networking lunch that gave ample opportunity to ask questions and gain insight.
They were useful for answering questions about the recruitment process, lawyers experiences within the firm, their pathway into law and just getting a general feel for the company.
I enjoyed hearing about the inter office football tournament which took place in Dublin and the various drinks/dinner socials.
I would highly recommend this to a friend even if they are unsure about going into law as it is fun and interesting to meet and talk to other people (both my age and lawyers).
