About You
Very much so, with the employees at Citi Bank and the other participants on the spring week making the experience very enjoyable! The week was varied and interesting, with several talks focusing on technology and innovation at Citi. I found this particularly enjoyable. I would absolutely recommend this insight to anyone who may be interested in the finance and technology field.
During my time at Citi Bank, I was made to feel very well valued. Firstly, this was due to the small cohort of participants, which meant that the Recruitment Team and other employees had the opportunity to really get to know us individually. Secondly, every single employee that I met was extremely welcoming and friendly, which again made me feel extremely valued by the bank.
There was a good level of guidance and support throughout my time at Citi Bank. Notably what stood out for me, was the willingness of staff to help me and offer guidance when I was unsure of something. This seemed to be common amongst the staff at the bank, who were all more than willing to offer support.
The information I received and and the skills that I developed will certainly assist me in my degree studies and far beyond that! I now have a much better understanding of the financial sector and I will be able to apply this knowledge to my university studies. Furthermore, I greatly improved my Excel skills, which will be beneficial in any role.
The Company
My week spent at Citi was well structured and I always knew exactly where I needed to be at what time. The days were jam-packed with different activities and workshops, as well as desk-shadowing and I was certainly never bored! My only criticism is that some of the days were too busy and it would have been nice to have a break to gather my thoughts and have some down-time.
The general atmosphere was great- much better than I was expecting! Everyone was friendly and more than willing to help, even though they were busy, making it a supportive environment. I was made to feel like a valued member of the team during my time at Citi Bank and I always felt I could approach people for a quick chat!
I felt very well invested in by Citi Bank and whilst the main focus was on gaining knowledge and understanding of the financial sector, the week certainly focused on our personal development and training also. This included a skills session on how to read the financial news and how to perform well in and interview and an assessment centre which was very useful.
The insight week gave me a much better understanding on what it would be like to have a full time role at Citi Bank. We had the opportunity to ask so many questions with the employees at Citi Bank, which I found particularly useful. We could also ask these questions so analysts, associates and MDs to get a full picture of what a career is like at Citi.
I believe the best way to understanding more about the culture at a firm is to get out and meet people and talk to them as they do their job. There were certainly plenty of opportunities to do this in the work shadowing process, as well as the networking events which gave us a chance to ask people about the culture at Citi.
The content of the day was very valuable in helping me to decide on my future career path. Whilst I was already certain I want to pursue a career in this field, having the opportunity to spend time working on a desk, allowed me to decide what part of the bank I am best suited to.
Everything Else
Whilst I was not paid, I was reimbursed all of my expenses.
Yes there were plenty of opportunities and the networking aspect of the Spring was really great. There was a number of networking event organised by the Recruitment Team and we were also encouraged to network on our own. I organised to meet a number of different employees for lunch and coffee to understand more about their job roles.
I very much enjoyed the networking and social event opportunities!
Yes, there are lots of different activities for employees outside of work!
I would absolutely recommend this insight to a friend interested in this sector!
