The Role
Was really enjoyable mainly because we were supervised by trainees who were really friendly and encouraged us to socialise with them after work.
Everyone from partners to trainees gave us work, gave us feedback and took the time to check we had something to do and we were happy.
They were approachable and very hands-on
There were lulls on certain days, but each trainee was given a special project to research and then present which gave us alot to get our teeth stuck into
It didn't feel like we had much responsibility because trainees always checked everything.
I didn't feel like i developed any new skills, but it did give me a bit of insight into the working of a law firm which is invaluable!
The Company
The whole atmosphere in the office was fun and friendly, particularly the out of hours socialising...
Clearly structured and looked after us well
Seemed that they did use the week to assess me and gauge my suitability for the firm and they did offer me a chance to learn more about the firm and their ethos
Following the vacation scheme I felt much more confident going into my training contract application and felt sure that working for Shoosmiths is what I wanted.
The Culture
There was only 3 students in total but the trainees made a conscious effort to include all of us for post-work drinks!
Standard Nottingham prices
Great
I was only there for one week so the opportunities were limited to the pub
