About You
I very much enjoyed my two weeks spent at RPC! I found the work to be very interesting and the firm really lived up to its reputation as a open, innovative and forward-thinking organisation. I had the opportunity to work with bright and driven lawyers and I would certainly recommend this insight to anyone interested in the legal sector.
I felt very valued by the team at RPC. This was down to the fact I had the opportunity to undertake meaningful and 'live' work and therefore was contributing to the team. My line manager and colleagues took the time to provide feedback on my work and were appreciative of the work I was completing!
The scheme organisers were incredibly welcoming and ensured that there was plenty of support in place if we needed it. We were given an extensive induction on the first day, which provided us with all of the vital information we needed. Throughout my time on the scheme, my team were incredibly supportive and I could always ask them for help and guidance when I needed it.
Very much so and I will certainly use the skills and knowledge in the future! I learned skills such as time management and how to prioritise work based on demand. Learning how to (very) quickly read a judgement and summarise it or any contracts is a skills which I know will be useful for my final year at university.
The Company
The structure of this scheme was clearly very well thought out. There was a good balance of time spent in departments, as well as other opportunities such as the speed networking sessions which provided a real insight into the different departments of RPC. The two weeks ran very smoothly and I could not fault the structure.
The general atmosphere at RPC was really great! Everyone within my team was extremely friendly and I never felt like I was a bother or like I was wasting anyone's time. There was also good atmosphere amongst the intern cohort and we formed a close bond throughout the duration of the vacation scheme.
The firm invested a great deal into our personal development and training. On the 1st day, we were provided with I.T training to help us navigate our way on the systems throughout the two weeks. Throughout the time in each department we were also given feedback on everything we carried out, as well as an end of week review in which we were encouraged to provide self-feedback to discuss too.
Being given so many networking opportunities, allowed me to hear many perspectives from different employees . Not only from differing levels of seniority, but from different departments also. As a result I believe that I was really offered the chance to be shown what a full time role within RPC would look like.
Having the opportunity to network with individuals at every stage of their career provided an invaluable insight into the culture at RPC. With formal and informal networking sessions, lunches and extra curricular activities, I truly had a great opportunity to see what the culture at the firm is like first hand.
Very much so and this vacation scheme gave me a much better idea of the kind of legal career I wish to pursue in the future. Hearing about the experience of others and how they reached the point in their careers was useful to gather ideas and see where I would like to go.
Everything Else
I was paid over £300 for my time spent at RPC and was also provided a food allowance for the duration of the scheme.
Yes, there were plenty of opportunities for networking and meeting other employees at RPC.
I very much enjoyed the networking and social event opportunities at RPC!
Yes, there are plenty of activities that employees can get involved in outside of work.
