The Role
My team were very enthusiastic and the work atmosphere was great to work in. I enjoyed going in every day and I was given a variety of work to get involved in. I met lots of different people which made my day more varied. It has given me great experience of the work environment.
My team valued my opinions when I gave them and provided me with encouraging feedback on my work. I presented some of the things I did in team meetings and these were then discussed as a team which made me feel as though the work was relevant to the projects.
My team set aside time to discuss any issues I was having. They also took time to explain topics in meetings before more detailed discussions took place so I could understand. My manager also met with me weekly to discuss progress and give me advice on how to achieve my objectives.
I had plenty of work to do but was able to spread it over the course of my week as I wanted, ensuring that the work was completed by the relevant deadlines. There was also time left for me to set up meetings with other graduates or talk to team members.
I was given tasks to do on my own and these were also QAd by a senior member of my team. I felt as though I did have my own responsibilities to complete tasks and then forward them to my team but I knew that somebody would check my work so didn't have to feel stressed.
The writing skills and note taking could help me in my degree, however the style of writing I have had to develop at the FCA is not the one I have been taught to use at university. The networking skills I have developed will also definitely help me in the future.
The Company
It was a very positive atmosphere where you are free to talk about things and chat to colleagues. People are always willing to help you and answer any questions but people are also getting on with work. It is a very good balance between work and socialising with each other.
The structure of having a couple of days introduction was really useful, especially for getting to know the other interns. The work within my team was also very well structured. However I would have liked if there were more organised catch up sessions with the other interns to compare work.
There were no specific training sessions to develop specific skills. However there is a lot of on the job training and by speaking to other colleagues and asking questions you could pick up on information. I was also given different types of tasks and exposure to aid in my training.

Working from home
There is the opportunity of the graduate programme available to interns, assuming your manger recommends you. Other graduates at the company have explained the many opportunities available to move up through the company. There are rotations so you can experience work in different departments and work in areas across the company.
The Culture
The other interns were very enthusiastic and everybody was willing to socialise. We went on a number of evenings out after work and got to know each other. This also helped with understanding more about how other departments in the company worked and being comfortable to contact others with any questions.
