    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed this internship very much as i had the opportunity to meet a wide variety of staff and i had been given the opportunity to visit other Barclays offices with my team and line manager's approval.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was very much valued within the team, even without prompt from my team, they were very complimentary regarding my attitude and ability to tackle a task head on and run with it.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Despite the number of changes within my team which included a change of line managers mid-way, the support and guidance from my team, department and line manager was phenomenal

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was definitely on the busier side of things especially regarding the department i was in where the work never really stops. However my team was very much on point on how much work i was taking on and ensuring that i don't stress myself with the workload.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Whilst I wasn't necessarily been "given" responsibility by the team, I was taking up responsibility on my own accord taking as much as I can, as long as i have my line manager and team's approval. They were happy with the responsibilities i have taken.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Whilst I didn't learn and develop my technical skills during my internship, I have further developed and honed a lot of my soft skills such as writing and communicating professionally which will definitely help me in my future career and studies.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was definitely more light-hearted than I was expecting, so being able to freely communicate to other departments and being able to talk and chat with them (as long as they got spare time in their diaries) is something that I definitely wasn't expecting.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Whilst most of it went well without a hitch, the initial start of the internship wasn't so great. Hearing that my team and line manager was informed on friday before my arrival felt very rushed. Because of that I wasn't really able to integrate to the team properly due to lack of equipment for the first two weeks.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The bank has invested a lot in terms of training, meeting up other interns and hosting networking events in order to build up our network further. The bank also has allowed me opportunities to further my own developments in our own way such as meeting managing directors/directors that I would personally like to meet.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very as I have managed to secure a graduate place with the bank as long as i have met my predicted grade.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was definitely a good social scene amongst my fellow intern students although it was kind of a shame that we didn't really have a chance to interact with the other interns at other offices.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I did not live or socialised in Northampton as i have been commuting from Birmingham to Northampton everyday.

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I didn't partake in the Nightlife in Northampton as i as commuting from Birmingham to Northampton everyday.
