The Role
The culture at GT is amazing, the people are so friendly. What surprised me was that even the interview process was not scary! Contacted by recruiters very often throughout so I knew what was going on. Work was explained well and feedback received was very helpful. I really enjoyed my internship, and learnt so much.
I was always receiving good feedback from my colleagues about the work that I completed. Colleagues also spend time asking about myself which made me feel like they really took an interest in me. The work i done was always used which was nice because as an intern it can be easy in some internships to feel like your work is not necessary.
My people manager was very friendly and made me feel comfortable asking her any questions if and when I had them. My in charges were very easy to talk to and glad to answer any questions I had. I feel like I received good mentoring from everyone I worked with.
Some days I had lots to do and others I was asking around the office for work but all work that I did I put lots of effort into and feel that I was never bored and never felt overwhelmed with my work load. I always had breaks for lunch and my working hours were pretty consistent with my contract.
I was given whole sections of audits to do sometimes which was really nice. Other times I was helping colleagues out with outstanding work they had. Overall, I feel that the responsibilities I was given was fair and I felt comfortable, rather than being left to it which can often seem daunting.
My excel skills are 100% improved! Working on laptops has improved my technology skills and I used programs and software I’ve not used before. With regards to my degree, attention to detail was definitely a huge development. Beyond that, I look forward to using new skills in my future work life.
The Company
Everyone worked very hard but then also there was times that I could chat with others around the office. The office also encourages people to sit at different desks to make new connections and learn more about other people working at GT. Overall, good working atmosphere enabling me to concentrate when necessary.
Very good organisation. Got put on different jobs so experienced a lot. Training days were good in London. Engaging with other interns was nice and helpful later on if ever I had a question. Internship was a good amount of time to show me what GT is all about and didn’t have any problems.
Company invested a lot in the interns. Conference in London, training and networking events. We were all really encouraged to make the most out of our time and the firm really helped us to do that. I’m thankful to GT for all they invested in me because I really felt the benefit.
National Travel
The internship was good in allowing GT to assess me and see if I would fit in with the firm after graduation. In a performance review and a presentation, I was able to show what I had learnt and what value id add to the company and got offered a job.
The Culture
We all stuck together so we made sure to make it social. Other trainees encouraged us to go and socialise and it was nice when others from the office came too. At training it was nice to hang out with the other intern students and get to know each other mores
Leeds is a cheap city to live in if you manage your money properly. Socialising is a bit more expensive around th office because it’s not student prices. Cost of living is cheaper the further out you go so commuting from slightly out the city is cheaper than living central
Around the office there is a lot of after work bars. There are more bars as clubs in the centre of Leeds which is so close to the office. Nightlife in Leeds ranges so there’s lots of choice. There will be something for everyone in Leeds to suit all budgets
There were quite often invitations getting sent round the office for drinks, pizza evenings, football matches, cricket games, and more. Everyone seems to really make an effort to get people in the firm together outside of work. And because everyone is friendly it is easier to put forward ideas for activities
