The Role
I found my placement extremely enjoyable - I was surrounded by people who were there to support me and help make the internship an enjoyable experience. I learnt a lot from the internship, getting involved with and owning some really interesting work.
My colleagues always valued my opinions and tasked me with things they would give to any other colleague despite me being an intern. I was given sufficient responsibilities.
My line manager was very helpful - she supported me through my internship from the very beginning and was always happy to answer any questions. The campus recruitment team were also extremely supportive and happy to help me with any queries I had.
Sometimes I found that I did not have a lot of work to be doing and found myself bored or always asking my team for things I could help with. However towards the end of the internship, the work really picked up and I had plenty to do but was not overworked.
I was given a sufficient amount of responsibility for my role and capabilities. At first I felt a bit out of my depth but I found that this challenged me in a positive way and I learnt from that. I was given important tasks but always had support from my seniors along the way.
I don't think my placement will help me in my degree studies but it has definitely given me great experience and skills that I can use in my future career.
The Company
I found the general atmosphere in my office to be really good. It was very professional in that everybody was always working and ensured that the work they needed to do got done, but my colleagues and I were often chatting and having fun together - it was overall really well balanced.
Overall I found the internship to be quite well organised while I was there. However the on-boarding process before was quite unorganised for me as I had a lot of issues with getting the right documentation to Barclays and found that I was getting multiple different answers to my questions which was quite annoying.
I would say that Barclays invested in its interns quite well and that there were plenty of opportunities for personal training and development. Almost every week we had sessions with directors/managing directors to broaden our knowledge of the area we were working in, and we had opportunities to widen our experiences and network as well.

For me, the future employment prospects within the organisation are really promising as I have been given an offer to return as a graduate once I've completed my degree. I think Barclays is really good with investing in their interns/graduates so the future employment prospects are really appealing.
The Culture
I was very lucky as my fellow interns within my area as well as some from outside were all really great and we bonded really quickly. We often met up outside of work, either for lunches or to go out at the weekends so for me the social scene was really good.
Considering my placement was in London, the cost of living and socialising was obviously really high, particularly in comparison to university. However we made do and found ways to enjoy ourselves without spending loads of money like going for drinks and people's houses and it definitely did not stop us from socialising.
Since I was working in London the nightlife was obviously really good - there is a lot on offer and extremely varied so it is easy to find something that everybody can enjoy even if it isn't as cheap as what we're used to as students. The after work drinks culture is also really fun.
I'm not really sure what this question means and what is meant by 'activities'. Assuming it just means social things outside of work, as I was based in London there was always plenty to do. If it is relating to work-related activities outside of work, I would say it depends what department you're in.
