The Role
I honestly enjoyed my placement year. My role and the team i worked with through the year made it quite interesting and i was able to gain a lot of experience. The nature of my role was quite diverse and this has been beneficial as i have been able to work with a large and diverse group of people from different functions.
My team created an environment that enabled me to ask as many questions, which allowed me to grow and understand my role thoroughly. I also had the opportunity to work with each and every team member one way or another. My appreciation for team work and the opportunity to work with one is something i have been able to gain through this year.
My manager was always supportive and understanding, i was always able to contact them and talk to them on both a personal and professional level. This made my placement at Cummins even more enjoyable. I now understand that for growth one needs a strong support system.
My role had a number of responsibilities which varied. As time went on my responsibilities grew and i had to strategize my responsibilities in order of priority and the consideration of other factors. i was fairly busy on most days considering the nature of my role.
Working at Cummins has given me the opportunity to work on actual projects. i had the opportunity to host meetings as well as work on projects that had relevant priority in the company. This gave me the opportunity to understand the company's process and products.
I have received a numerous amount of training through out my placement year from Communication to Six Sigma training. This will definitely be beneficial in my university and future career path, as i have been able to learn and experience this first hand in my role and in the professional environment.
The Company
The environment at Cummins is perfect for growth. My colleagues were respectful and diverse making it quite interesting. The Inclusion and Diversity values were two key values i felt and experienced working at Cummins.
My role had a lot of responsibilities and i had the opportunity to work with a large number of people both locally and on a global aspect. The responsibilities were also well spaced out
The training programs i was involved in at Cummins ensured i was growing at both a personal and professional level. I have had the opportunity to learn how i can work with different personalities, a key tool that has made working in a professional environment much easier.

The Culture
Yes my fellow placement students were quite friendly and adventurous making it quite eventful. This has brought life long friendships.
The cost of living was student friendly and socialising was not much of a problem a lot of the students were local.
It was something to look forward to but not much was in Daventry as it was a small town.
Yes, as a lot of the students were local this gave us the opportunity to work together and also form friendships through activities outside work like travelling and participating in extra curriculum activities.
