The Role
Really loved the placement. It was a true insight in to being a Solicitor and gave me the opportunity to experience working for Shoosmiths.
Everyone made an effort to talk to me on a daily basis and the trainees were really friendly and helpful. This made the interview more relaxed because I had already spoken to the members of staff.
I felt i was given lots of support and guidance. My buddy was really helpful and helped me manage the task and work I was set throughout the week.
I was constantly given work to do but never felt overloaded. When I didn't have much to do the mini project ensured I was bury. This was really fun!
I felt the level of responsibility was good because I had the change to complete the work of a trainee solicitor but had the added assurance that it would be thoroughly checked. I had complete responsibility of my mini project and could spend as much time as I needed to complete this.
The main skills i developed were drafting, note taking, editing and letter writing.
The Company
The office atmosphere was fun and relaxed, We had daily biscuits, tea and all the members of staff made an effort to talk to each other about hobbes outside of work.
Very organised. Samantha Hope was really informative and helpful before the placement started. i felt very comfortable about starting the placement.
One thing I learnt about Shoosmiths is that the firm really does invest in their employees. Trainees are given the chance to go on secondments, choose their departments and socialise with different offices.
i have a training contract with Shoosmiths and was delighted when I receieved the call.
The Culture
Good balance. Not too much but trainees seem to be encouraged to socialise together.
I wanted to take part in sports teams but there wasn't any games during my scheme.
