The Role
I really enjoyed my internship at KPMG, everyone was very friendly and extremely supportive. I found the internship rather overwhelming as the whole experience was full of knowledge that I was trying to take in, but it was an extremely useful experience and I cant thank KPMG enough for giving me the opportunity to intern with them.
I felt like a member of the family whilst with the other colleagues in my team. They always made sure to include the interns when they were going for coffee or team meetings. I felt incredibly valued especially when given my feedback from the members of the team I worked closely with.
Fantastic! The supervisors were extremely helpful and provided us with lots of support. The instructions given were very clear and we were always allowed to ask as many questions as we needed to be able to complete the task that was given to us. They were very supportive when we didn't understand anything fully.
This varied day on day, there were some days that I was extremely bored. I had been given nothing to do and even when I asked I was told I would be given a task to do at the start of the next week. But once I was put on a project the work was very well balanced.
I was given a bit of responsibility during my internship at KPMG. I was responsible of finishing a job and then reporting back to my manager. I was also responsible for running lots of tests and organising the output files so they could be analysed by other members of the team.
I learnt so much whilst I was working at KPMG. I believe the skills I learnt whilst there have made me even more employable and I will certainly be taking the skills I learnt forward with me to any graduate job I take on once I have finished studying at univeristy.
The Company
This is a very interesting question, the initial set up of the internship appeared to be very badly organised. The application process wasn't done very well and many of us were still trying to get security clearance in the days before our internship was due to start. But once we were at the company and everything was underway it was extremely well organised.
The company invested so much time and energy into the interns. We had a lot of different training sessions in many different areas which helped equip me for the rest of my internship but I will also take these skills forward with me to any further jobs I take on.

I have been offered a graduate job with them for when I finish university next autumn. I am thrilled! The company really sold themselves to me when I was interning with them and are looking like really a very appealing place to have a graduate job. I am very pleased to be going back to work there.
The Culture
We all got to know each other very well during the training at the beginning of our internship and remained good friends throughout the internship. We were encouraged to go to socials together which was lovely and there was a great sense of community between the interns, we were encouraged to make friends and spend time together.
Canary Wharf is expensive! But I knew this before applying to the internship. Socialising in central London is extremely expensive especially compared to my hometown. Also the cost of living was expensive, but I was given a lunch allowance at work each day so I only had to sort my breakfast and a light tea which helped reduce the cost of living.
There were lots of social events which I really enjoyed. I don't drink and most of the events revolved around alcohol, but I didn't mind this as it was nice to be able to spend time networking with other interns but also other members of my team and the wider community at KPMG.
