The Role
A fantastic team, and lots of different interesting projects, however some dead time when work could not be found for me.
The team was incredibly welcoming, always happy to have meetings and talk through work. People happy to take time to give advice, was invited to drinks after work and on lunchtime walks.
The direct line manager was very busy and had average communication, though made an effort to see me a couple of times during the placement. However other lower down employees were always around and happy to take time to support and guide.
Most days were very busy, however around a fifth of days I had little work to be getting on with.
I had to write an official concept paper for a project to be sent to clients within the first week. And during the final week was entrusted with control of documents that had very limited access.
The analytical skills will be useful in university but I imagine the skills developed will be very useful beyond in terms of minute taking and general work place skills.
The Company
Very welcoming, lots of jokes, regularly had communal food. Lunch was always had together with flowing conversation and "wellbeing walks" provided a welcome break from the office environment.
The interview process was a tad slow and various weeks of the work were short on things to do, however everyone in the team was made aware of who the interns were and how long we were there, and we were all assigned supervisors and had people in the team to talk to for any issues.
We were regularly asked if there were any particular areas of the team we wanted experience in and had various opportunities to take part in online courses and attend lunchtime seminars.

The Culture
Whilst not specific to the placement students the team social scene was strong with regular casual drinks and a few organised events.
It's London.
It's London!
There were a few activities outside of work, however being summer there were not as many people around so fewer socials are organised. But a few sporting events took place, as well as networking and talks out of hours.
