About You
It provided a great insight into the company. Having the chance to work with clients allowed me to understand the work provided by KPMG to its clients.
I was able to work with different clients on different projects, i was given tasks to complete on my own which provided a challenge, however there was always help available if i was stuck. Whilst working on site, i was often trusted to complete my own work and access information from clientele which made me feel valued.
Guidance was always available to me, i was able to develop new skills applicable to the workplace. Having a performance manager enabled me to track progress and also provide any help during the internship. However, there was a lack of feedback as to the timeframe and quality of work expected from an intern.
As an accounting and finance student, this internship was very beneficial to my degree studies. It enabled me to understand how my studies are applied to a career in auditing.
The Company
The induction was a well structured day and everyone was well looked after, holding meetings with a performance manager during the internship enabled me to track my progress and understand what was required from me. KPMG also gave me the chance to attend socials outside of work which was a great experience.
Great working environment, all staff were approachable and friendly.
KPMG provided a website run by themselves for training. This was beneficial for understanding how to use the softwares used by KPMG to provide their services to clientele. This enabled me to develop my ability to carry out work whilst working for KPMG as an intern. The values day at the beginning of the internship provided training as to the importance of how we should conduct ourselves when working for KPMG.
The internship involved myself being part of projects with senior members of staff, this provided a great insight as to the role as a full time member of staff. They also provided advice and information on the exams that are part of the graduate scheme. As an accounting and finance student, this was very beneficial.
The values day was a great way of understanding KPMG’s culture. This helped all interns understand what was required of them and ensured we felt valued working for the company. Understanding the key values KPMG have enabled me to conduct myself in a manor desired by the company during my time there.
Working at KPMG enabled me to cover most aspects of a role in auditing, this was beneficial in helping me decide a career path. Also, having the opportunity to speak to more senior members of staff provided a great insight into the career paths of others, this was beneficial to my decision.
Everything Else
Very well paid, the lunch allowance was great and expenses were covered when on site.
The values day enabled all interns in the northern offices to meet and network. As well as this, KPMG provided a social for all interns during the internship so everyone could discuss progress with other members at different offices. Attending work socials for the office i worked with allowed me to connect with other members of the office i dont usually work with.
The social opportunities i attended were great, going to the races as well as attending various meals out enabled me to connect with the other members. This made me feel welcome as an intern. As well as this, i was really well looked after and had a great time attending these events.
There was various opportunities that i could attend but i did not explore these whilst i was at KPMG.
I would recommend this insight to a friend or fellow accounting student. This provies a great insight to working for a big four auditor company. As well as the benefits for personal development of skills, it was a fun experience, well paid and a great chance to meet new people.
