The Role
The internship was a great experience as it allowed me to see how my skills learned at university would be used within the current workplace. Also It allowed insight into the technologies that are currently being used allowing me to tailor and develop my skill relevant to the job I would be applying for.
Although I was only an Intern at the company my team were very welcoming and helpful. They were happy to answer any queries that I had as well as provided help on tasks I was not yet familiar with. This made the experience more enjoyable for me as I was able to talk to the people around me and gain insight and knowledge from during my time as an Intern.
Throughout the internship I was always made aware of the different people I was able to approach in order to get help or talk about any questions I had on my mind. The supervisors and management were easy to talk to and would always be happy to set aside time me when I needed help.
As an intern I was unsure of how much work we would be given and how busy we would be, but straight from day one my calendar was full with different talks, meetings with my team and various other activities. Also as I had been given a project to do from scratch I was kept busy from day one between training and learning about new technologies and then implementing this to my work made the day enjoyable and quick.
As an Intern I was not expecting to be given as much responsibility as I was. From the start I was given a new project to work on and develop over the 10 weeks and starting the project from scratch and then being told that it would be getting taken over by others in the team once I had finished meant there was a lot of responsibility to make sure I kept inline with the teams standards as well as produce a fully working project at the end. I was to manage my own time and project with a few feedback sessions during the 10 weeks in order to show progress and gain other opinions on how to improve or what to add to the project.
The skills that I developed during the 10 weeks were skills that I am now able to take forward into my fourth year and apply them to getting the best grades possible. I learned about technologies that I had not heard of before or worked with which gave me a better insight on how companies actually use different technologies.
The Company
The office had a very welcoming and relax atmosphere. The environment was very friendly and helped to make the experiences more enjoyable and fun. It allowed you to communicate with your team quickly as you were generally next to each other making it quick and easy to provide help when required.
The overall induction process was very smooth as it started very early allowing plenty of time to fill in applications and and read the relevant material provided and this helped to make it a very non stressful process. The workplace set up was also very good as everything that I required to do my job was set up and ready to go on day one. As well as being asked prior to starting if I needed any additional requirements to do my job before starting the internship which was helpful.
Although I was only an intern for 10 weeks during this duration I was constantly challenged and encouraged to take advantage of all the training facilities that were available to me to help improve my skills as well as to feed my interest of different technologies that I had not yet had the opportunity to learn.

The future employment prospects within J.P.Morgan are very appealing especially within the technology side. They use up to date technologies and are constantly pushing you to become the best that you can be. The opportunities to move up the ladder are based on your individual skill and experience and they allow you to work with different teams/projects to develop you knowledge and experience if this is what you desire and being such a large organisation this can be done very smoothly and it allows you to drive your career in the direction you want.
The Culture
They way that we were introduced into the internship program allowed all participants to bond and make new friendships right from the very beginning this included taking part in team events with the other interns on the programme, which allowed people to meet each other and share their skills and experiences.
The area I worked in provided a vast amount of social activities and some did cost however there are also lots of activities that can be done for free such as the museums or other local attractions. The cost of living was not too bad as there are lots of different ways to get to work and this is due to it being located in the city centre.
I worked In Glasgow during my internship so the nightlife was always very enjoyable and present. There were plenty of pubs and clubs with a variety of different music and backgrounds so there was something available for everyone and everything is close to each other making most places easy to find.
Yes. There were several activities that were available outside of the workplace and were easy to become a part of. This included volunteering your time in order to help others. Such as doing work within the local community. Other events such as fun quizzes and bored game night were organised when enough interest was shown.
