The Role
A great place to work with a lovely campus like feel. The work is challenging but rewarding and co-workers are helpful. Definitely a lot more techy than I expected a Bank to be.
Everyone was very friendly and always valued my ideas, even if they weren’t the best.
Bi-weekly meetings with my manager meant I always knew what I was doing well in and what I needed to improve.
Always had something to do, but I never felt pressured into staying in late to finish something.
I was part of a team that were working on an application important to the department. During development I was given the responsibility to give ideas on how things should be done.
My software development improved drastically, which will definitely help me during my degree.
The Company
Calm and relaxed.
Didn’t encounter any problems starting the internship. While I was there everything went well.
There were some training assignments but they were all online.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
Easy to change roles within the company if you want to do something else. The option of working in other locations around the world is good to.
The Culture
There were company organised events just for fellow placement students, and Bournemouth is a good place to go out on the weekends.
Rent wasn’t the cheapest but you can find a place in student accomadtion for an ok price (and the company pay a bit towards it). Food and drink wasn’t to bad.
Some nice pubs, clubs and bars that are very close to most student halls.
There are lots of societies and sports clubs organised by employees.
