The Role
Average experience, main project wasn't very interesting, didn't get much guidance from manager. Overall, the environment and culture are great, people are very approachable and nice, but the work itself is uninteresting and unchallenging, so it was a pretty boring experience overall. Didn't really learn much, the project itself wasn't very technical.
Worked in a team with other interns, they were nice and friendly, we had good collaboration and overall felt valued by the team. Other full-time colleagues were also nice and open, could go and shadow any of them to see what they do. However, my manager was always busy and barely interacted with me.
My manager barely had time to speak to me or the other interns in my team, he delegated the main project to another colleague who acted as the de facto manager. The latter was helpful, although he didn't really have a lot of technical knowledge about the project, so he'd often redirect us to teams in other offices.
Most of the days I was bored because there wasn't much to do, mostly waiting on email replies or scheduled calls. Then at several points throughout the programme a lot of work appeared all of a sudden, so I'd sometimes have a few really, really busy days, followed by many boring days, so overall a pretty bad work balance.
The project I worked on had three more interns in it, and there simply wasn't enough to do for all of us. It would have been ideal for two interns instead of four. The project itself was slightly important, as it would get deployed into production, but there was too little work to make me feel like I had been given much responsibility with it.
Learned a thing or two about teamwork and communication, but I haven't seen much about all the technical stuff the company is advertising, since the project was more about analysis rather than development. So while all the meetings and calls helped with soft skills, there wasn't much technical improvement due to lack of work.
The Company
Surprisingly relaxed for a bank, everyone is very friendly and calm, most people are open to discussion at all times. People joke and aren't very strict on time and formalities as long as you get the work done and there are no clients around. Overall the place has a great atmosphere.
There were several events organised by HR, some senior talks, some networking events, some of them were ok, some of them were pretty boring, nothing special, but overall well organised. The work itself however (in my case at least) was a disaster, the project was very poorly thought out and it made the internship quite unenjoyable.
Got assigned some mandatory online courses about conduct and company policy, there wasn't anything interesting, just had to do them. Apart from that, there were some tech workshops organised in the firm that anyone could attend, but it wasn't specifically done for the internship. Got a mentor who was a recent grad and who I met every two weeks or so to talk about work and the company in general, but that's about it.

Not very appealing. The pay and overall atmosphere and culture are all right, but the work itself was fairly disappointing. However, I did a side project which was more technical, so there is interesting stuff to be done in tech, but it's not the majority of teams, so it really depends where you end up. Would rather go somewhere else.
The Culture
Yes, most other interns were all right, friendly, approachable, open discussion. Met a few people, made some friends, got along well with my teammates, so overall the social scene was fairly good. There were a few odd people, but that's to be expected when there are so many interns in the company.
Since it's London, rent was fairly expensive. Canary Wharf has very expensive pubs and bars, so I only went out there on a few occasions. If you are not looking to save money however, the salary should be more than enough to allow you to go to several socials throughout the programme.
Not a fan of clubs, so can't comment.
Not many opportunities. Got to do a volunteering day once in a children's park, but that was mandatory. Other than that, there are some workshops and talks you can attend during work hours, but nothing that requires commitment and regular attendance, at least not for interns (haven't been told about such things either).
