The Role
It was an overall pleasant and unique experience. Great balance between HR events and work. Interns are treated as equal as regular employees so no one would be turned away from opportunity just because they are an 'intern'. All events were informative and not just a waste of time. The only reason I give 9/10 is because of the field I was put in which didn't involve as much software engineering as I hoped.
Greatly valued! I was an integrated part of the team and my ideas and suggestions were taken and considered by the whole team! We operated at a self-managing (flat) structure which meant that our manager was also part of the team and my opinions were just as valued as his!
My manager was an ED and was very busy throughout my whole internship but the times when I needed guidance and help he was always there for me and made sure to pay me enough attention! This helped immensely with my research on how to get the full-time position in London due to personal reasons!
Unfortunately, sometimes I had days during which I didn't have a lot to do. I used this time to further develop myself by reading about finance or doing coding challenges. I believe this is due to the way my team worked and the way each one had a report to produce and when they are done they might run out of thing to do.
I was in Regulatory Technology in Report Development team working on Brexit and the scripts that I wrote and automate the report generation process actually will go in Production. This allowed me to keep regular contact with the business so I produce a top solution for their needs. This allowed me to be a valuable part of the outcome of an important CIB project.
8/10 because I didn't learn as much on the tech side as I hoped I would. While I developed my SQL skills, I didn't code much in Java which I really wanted. However, my communication, presenation, customer communication skills and overall approach to people in a professional way are the skills I've acquired/improved.
The Company
Great is an understatement! It was so relaxed, so friendly. People were so cheerful, smiling and ready to share knowledge with you. I loved every bit of it and this was one of the things I would miss the most! The people definitely played a big part in my overall experience.
Was satisfactory. Sometimes there would be bad timings and inconsistency.
Informative and training events were held throughout the whole internship. With company specific talks, cyber talks and challenges, JP Morgan made a very good impression on me. This helped me feel the technology side of the company better and develop my tech skills. Hackathons also developed interpersonal and tech skills.

My experience and the offer that followed would definitely make me accept the offer@
The Culture
Definitely! We were 4 interns in 2 teams managed by 1 manager. We were very close and we enjoyed our experience so much! We also used to go out for lunch with other interns in the canteen. 1 hour a day of socialising with people in your shoes definitely brings the mood up!

Definitely! Business Resource Groups, as well as the Innovation Projects, were a great opportunity, especially for long-term interns. Another great opportunity is the Ignite community and their working groups like Predictive Analytics for data science, machine learning and Cloud Club for cloud computing and Gaia/AWS. Also, events organised by interns.
