    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed it a lot. The learning curve was steep from day one and Bloomberg invested in us a lot without a doubt. Also a unique feature of Bloomberg is that we were asked every week to provide feedback on the internship program and they took these into consideration during the program itself. The corporate culture is fantastic! However, sometimes some teams were a bit disorganized with what to give the interns to do.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The atmosphere at Bloomberg is warm and welcoming. Every individual is respected as they are and interns are treated as equal colleagues. We were also challenged by the full-time employees. Communication between everyone as easy and painless. Furthermore, the corporate culture encourages to show your cultural differences and convert them into a strength in the organization.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My managers would have bi-weekly 1-2-1 with me where we would have enough time to discuss my progress, challenges and next steps. Did not feel like I struggled alone with anything - managers wanted to make sure that we would succeed in what we do. Furthermore, you would have just casual coffee catch ups and possibilities to network with them.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Towards the end of the internship more and more as you became more engaged with various departments and employees. But the pace of the days became never unbearable and you still had influence on your schedule. It was also more than all right to reschedule things - everybody understood as they are also busy.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • We were given a lot of responsibility with regards of communication to clients. After one week of training we were trusted to talk straight with various stakeholders of the company and present them with functions. We were also given free hands to include items in our pitches and improvising. This type of actions were usually awarded rather than discarded.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I certainly understand the dynamics of the financial markets way better (in university we focus a lot on theoretical aspects and don't see the reality), concepts and the roles that people in the financial industry work with. This internship certainly helped me with getting a hunch about what I want to do in the future and what not.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was positive, buzzy and innovative. Everyone likes to network across departments and get to know new people. Employees were curious, culture were very diverse and open at the same time. Bloomberg has strong values that are clearly visible when entering the office and in the daily work of employees.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • We had a packed schedule and clear structure of managers, TLs, mentors etc. We also knew the point of contacts when we had various questions about program. Furthermore, there was a team page with FAQ and HR was always prompt in answering any questions we had.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Bloomberg invested a lot in us. We received one week initial training. After starting to work we always received training before having to start to work with a project. Nobody expected one to know something prior to getting training.
