    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I learned more during my 10 weeks at JPMorgan, than I did during my 3 years at University. My team were incredibly welcoming, helpful and friendly and I was very sad to leave the company at the end of my Internship. I would highly recommend an Internship at J.P.Morgan to anyone.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I got on very well with my team and I always felt able to ask questions, if I didn't fully understand something, for example. My team were always willing to share their experiences and knowledge with me. I will miss my team and can't wait to return to JPM and see them again!

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager and supervisor were brilliant. I was based in a different location to my manager, meaning that we had daily check-ins, to ensure that all my work was on track. I received valuable feedback throughout my internship, and they helped me to expand my professional network, through reaching out to their own contacts. I am hugely grateful.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Given that I had my own project, I was reasonably in control of how busy I was on a daily basis. Consequently, I had a perfect balance because I scheduled my time in line with what I had to achieve that day/week etc. Further, Campus Recruitment often put on events and I spent time expanding my professional network.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a huge amount of responsibility because throughout my 10 weeks, I was entirely in control of my own project and the success of it. This work was helpful to all in my wider team and they are still using this, despite the fact that I have now retuned back to Uni.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learned more in 10 weeks with JPM than in my 3 years at University. I am hugely grateful to my team and JPM Campus Recruitment for the outstanding training. I look forward to returning to Uni to implement many of the skills I have developed, such as time management.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I was fortunate to be on a large floor with ~1000 people and I spent time with several different teams. This meant that I was constantly able to meet new people and lean about their roles. Everyone I worked with was friendly and helpful and I will stay in contact with them.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • From the pre-internship on-boarding steps to post-internship follow up emails etc, I always felt important to JPM and I was kept up to date throughout my Internship. I was very impressed by the whole recruitment process, in particularly Campus Recruitment's organisation, given that there were a large number of Interns.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Given that I was an intern, I didn't do any professional exams but I will do these when I rejoin JPM as a Grad. I actively tried to complete at least one additional learning course per week to ensure that I got the most out of my Internship. With regards to the firm, I met with other LOBs to discover what they did - I was hugely appreciative of this time investment.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Healthcare/Dental

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I got a job with them! I have received an offer to return to JPM as a Graduate and I will do this next summer. I look forward to rejoining the firm and catching up with my team. Further, mobility is highly encouraged at the firm and this aides future employment prospects within the organisation.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes - we often went out and socialised, particularly when the World Cup was on. It was great to network with peers and seniors on a more casual level and we did this at least once per week. Further, Campus Recruitment often organised events, which allowed all Interns to socialise.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I have grown up in London so I am used to the cost of living being high but this did restrict the amount of socialising I did with fellow Interns and colleagues. Fortunately, the pay was reflective of the higher cost of living, and this made it significantly easier to make ends meet.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The London Nightlife is great. We often went out and socialised, particularly when the World Cup was on. It was great to network with peers and seniors on a more casual level and we did this at least once per week. Further, Campus Recruitment often organised events, which allowed all Interns to socialise.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I got involved with a Business Resource Group, which I am passionate about. This involved writing its first Newsletter and distributing it to all of our members. Outside of this, there are endless opportunities to join sports teams, such as the football team and this is a great was to meet new people.
