    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a very valuable experience. I learnt a lot about the firm, their clients,their employees and the nature of their work.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone who caught sight of me made an effort to acknowledge me or get to know me. If I asked to help someone, they gave me something worthwhile to do. I was invited to meetings etc.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The graduate recruitment team really looked out for my wellbeing. My supervisor was fantastic. I felt she really wanted me to do well on the placement and went out of her way to help me and to teach me.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was busy, to an extent that was realistic for working in a law firm. I was never bored.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given tasks to complete on my own and I was frequently required to send these to a Partner- I would say I had a reasonable level of responsibility given the nature of the work and my lackof legal expertise.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt a lot not only about law but about the corporate world- life in a big office environment etc. A very valuable experience.

  • It was a very sociable, cheery place.

  • They really were very organised.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They spent a large amount of time trying to make us understand the ethos of the firm and the nature of their clients- in the hope that we would one day work for them. I felt like the firm really wanted me which was a nice thing to feel.

  • I was really hoping for a job with this firm once I finished my placement.

  • They are still friends now.

  • London...

  • Central London again

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, the firm were open to us joining their sports teams etc whilst we were on the placements.
