The Role
Great opportunity to get a view on the job itself, the team, the bank's identity and to see what kind of environment we would be evolving in if we were to join full-time. I felt everything was gradual and left time for us to adapt (from training, to beginning with the team, to August where we had to step up as the office emptied...)
The internship mid review and final review helped see that colleagues actually valued my work. I didn't necessarily see it as I was working but the positive feedback I received was very reassuring and helped me be more confident in the work I provided. I also have a very hard time assessing whether my work is appreciated or not which is why feedback sessions were very useful.
It depended on who I was working with. Nonetheless, people were usually open to sitting down with me and explaining further if there was something I did not grasp at first. I felt like the more senior, the less time a colleague had, but it was up to us to ask for help or guidance from someone more junior if we felt we needed further explanations.
Usually pretty busy. Obvisously it depended on the days - there were some days where the morning or midday was very calm and everything would pick later in the afternoon. Overall, I was fairly busy all along and did see some situations where I had to deal with time constraints and managed priorities.
It gradually increased over the course of the internship as I learned more about the job. I really noticed a difference in August when a lot of analysts left on holiday. As interns, I felt this gave us the opportunity to step up and try to fill in the gap as much as possible to bother the least possible analysts on holiday.
I think that the internship mostly taught me prioritization. Not everything has the same importance and should deserve the same attention and time. This will help me prioritize my work during my studies and figure out what it is I need to be spending most of my time on. It also helped me identify which areas I wanted to dwell on to learn more.
The Company
Overall, the atmosphere was very welcoming and attentive to our needs. I think it also depended on where you were sitting in the team, but I was lucky enough to be next to very helping people who offered their help as soon as I got in on the first day. We also had a great intern team and always supported each other when needed.
I can't complain because I was allocated to the team I wanted and was extremely happy with the outcome. I heard a lot of other interns a bit disappointed with the process though because they didn't get teams they asked for. From my personal point of view, I felt like the process was well organized. The remote networking sessions were very useful, and I was also very happy that each of the teams had also prepared and took the initiative to call us to chat.
I think they invested a lot. I attented the pre-training session which was a really nice way to get into it, then we had a week-long training which taught us the basics we needed to start the internship. Over the course of the internship we had many resources available to us for all questions we might have.

Quite appealing - we have a very clear view of the career path we can have at the company. We also know that there are a lot of trainings to develop our technical, relationship and personal skills. Mobility options are available and encouraged so in the ned we have a clear view of what we can expect.
The Culture
Yes, great - at the level of my team, we were very close in our intern group and had a great atmosphere amongst ourselves. We were always very supportive to each other, and whenever one of us needed help or just wanted to chat a bit because they had something on their mind, we were always there to listen. So a great environment for us to evolve in during the summer.
Very high... London is expensive, housing is expensive and food is as well. Given our working hours, it was just about the weekend. The bank gives us a certain amount of money to get settled in, find housing etc. That's just how London is, everything is expensive so costly when you go out to socialize anyway.
We had no nightlife during the week given our working hours. During the weekend though, great opportunities to go out with friends for drinks or longer nights out. London is fun city and the bank did give us the chance to actually discover a bit the nightlife in the city.
Not really, again we had intense working hours so not a lot of time away from the office. Ten weeks is also a short period to get actively involved out-of-office activities. However, there was a gym at the office to which we had access and as August was quieter, some of us were able to try it a out a couple of times to at least see if it was sustainable to include it in working day routine.
