    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship is a fantastic experience, you really get to learn about how life and work at J P Morgan is like. Given that it's an internship, some things can be frustrating and it really is a 10 week long assessment center - but in the end it is super rewarding and I strongly recommend it.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt absolutely valued by everyone at the firm. J P gives you an incredible amount of responsibility given you are only an intern and I did not have any prior experience in the field. People actively ask and care about your opinions which really defines the culture at JP.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support is very strong, people want to help you and very much care about you making the best out of your summer at J P. You have a senior mentor, a buddy, a day to day supervisor and a manager plus HR, intern groups and so much more to support you!

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Quite busy - it is a tough job and requires a lot of work. At the same time, that is exactly what I would expect and want from an internship. It is so much better than just sitting around and being bored - and ultimately shows what a real job there would be like.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • High level of responsibility given it is only an internship position! This shows how much trust J P as a firm and everyone in the team has in their hiring decision (i e you). It's super important to be able to work independently and J P absolutely provides that opportunity.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Not super applicable as I study a technical degree so it's rather the other way round that my uni course helped me with the job. I am sure for finance background people it is super useful for master thesis etc (at least that is what I heard from them about it)

    1/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere is super open and friendly. In my opinion this must be what differentiates J P from all other financial firms. Everyone in the J P office wants to help you as an intern to improve and become better at what you do to ultimately receive the job offer.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The programme is super well organised and thoroughly structured. All events are in the calendar when we arrive on the desk and any changes to time/location of an event are made clear well in advance. In general, a very organised and structured atmosphere at J P helps to focus on the actual work.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Not terribly much - but I think this is in line with expectations. Just by talking and working with people from the business I think one develops a lot of very important soft skills. However there were no specific training sessions for those. Full time people have loads of them though.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    Healthcare/Dental

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing - especially given that new joiners to J P in the front office divisions get to go to New York for 6 weeks for training. That is an amazing way to start the work life at J P and super appealing to everyone (apparently the best time ever).

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very good, people are super nice and welcoming. On the first day already, senior management makes it very clear that no competition between interns is required - and that is how it really is throughout. There are no dirty tricks, cheating etc between interns - everyone just tries to help others.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very high - but that's London and I guess everyone knows about that anyways. Living in Canary Wharf is fun and nice cause it is so close to the office, but rents of > 200 £ are pretty standard and eating is not exactly cheap either - can just live further away.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • NA

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Absolutely, CR day etc.

    4/5
