    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Incredible work atmosphere and environment working at The Walt Disney Company. Interns are given a great deal of responsibility and within the 12 months of their tenure have a vast amount of exposure to how their department runs and their contribution to the Disney brand. I had an absolutely incredible year there.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team in which I worked with (the UK retail finance team) really showed a warm welcome to all of their interns and helped us really become embedded within the first few weeks. We were guided into our roles gradually and were really made to feel like we were going to make a real difference in our year there.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I believe I was given tremendous support during my time at the Walt Disney company. Not just by my line manager, but by my managers superior, their superior and so on. Even the permanent employers of surrounding teams would always look out for the interns and offer guidance and support wherever they could.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The first few months most of my day was taken up by getting used to my daily tasks and adhering to the processes of my role. Once I became comfortable with those tasks and was able to complete them in half the time then my line manager made sure I had plenty of projects to be working on.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I felt as though I was given a tremendous amount of my responsibility during my placement at the Walt Disney company , as did my fellow interns. The company really tries to push their interns to get the most out of the year, whilst contributing a great deal to the company too.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe that my excel skills developed dramatically during my 12 month internship at the Walt Disney company and most definitely prepared me going into my final year at university and for my career beyond that. Having exposure to numerous processes also helped develop myself as a professional massively too.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere around the office is one of the most significant features that attracted me to the Walt Disney company. Not only is everyone very welcoming and approachable but they know about their roles and how to get their work done but create a happy work atmosphere at the same time.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Upon arrival I was given a 12 month plan about how my internship was going to be shaped. I was given a weekly catch up with my line manager to make sure everything was going smoothly or if I had any questions for that week. Each month I was tasked with developing myself even further.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • During my time at the Walt Disney company I was continuously given tips and advice in how to Berger myself as a professional. Not necessarily through the means of learning new computer systems but through my presentational skills and my general office conduct. That is where I saw my managers most invest their time in my development.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I was always made to feel that I would be welcomed back to the walt Disney company in the future after I graduated and I think that is a great job to try and aspire to return to. Having the basis of an internship there is certainly a great place to start

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Absolutely. With over 200 interns in the UK office there is a great scheme set up to help integrate the interns into the business and really make them feel comfortable and valued. Regular social events and out of work get togethers really aided this and I made friends for life absolutely.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Having grown up in London I hadn't noticed the cost of living too too much but the prices in the surrounding areas of the office to which the Walt Disney company is based I'd say the prices are pretty standard and are comfortable to love off of with your internships salary

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Only a half an hour tube journey into central London there were some great nights during my internship at the Walt Disney company. In the hammersmith area there are also plenty of bars to go to also so I was never struggling to search for somewhere to go to after work.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • During my year at the Walt Disney company I was part of the Disney 5 aside football league every Tuesday night. I was welcomed into it within the first week of my arrival and loved that I had something I enjoyed so close to work. My fellow intern also joined a netball club and a choir service so there are plenty of opportunities.
