About You
I very much enjoyed this vacation scheme - it confirmed my passion for pursuing a career in the legal sector and opened my eyes to a career at Taylor Wessing. Furthermore, everyone that I met at the firm was really welcoming, making the scheme very enjoyable as well as a great learning experience!
I felt extremely valued and welcome at the firm. During my time there, I had the opportunity to undertake real work so I felt like I was actually contributing to the department and helping with clients' needs. Furthermore, I was invited to team events, meetings and socials, which meant that I felt like a valued member of team.
I felt very supported during my time spent at Taylor Wessing on the vacation scheme. I was assigned a department supervisor as well as a trainee buddy. My trainee buddy acted like a friend meaning I was able to ask any 'silly' questions I did not want to ask my supervisor.
During my time at Taylor Wessing, I was able to develop my skills and knowledge of the legal industry, which will be very beneficial in the future. Furthermore, I was able to develop a number of transferrable skills, such as research skills and communication skills. Furthermore, I had to juggle multiple projects and deadlines during my time at the firm, meaning that I developed my time management skills, which will be very beneficial at university!
The Company
I found the vacation scheme to be very well structured. The first day provided a through induction session and was a great ice-breaker. The scheme was split into two separate weeks with one seat (that you chose in advance) per week. There were also trainee organised socials and a farewell networking lunch. Everything felt well organised by the graduate recruitment team and the scheme ran very smoothly.
The atmosphere at Taylor Wessing was very friendly and inclusive and one of the aspects of the scheme I enjoyed the most! There were various opportunities to build relationships with my peers on the scheme as well as employees across the firm. Everyone was very welcoming and ensured that I was included in all aspects of life at the firm.
I felt very well invested in by Taylor Wessing. Partners in every department made the time to talk to us and share their knowledge. Despite their busy schedules, I had numerous coffees and lunches with senior members of the firm. Furthermore, we were given feedback on every piece of work, which was greatly appreciated and aided my personal development.
Spending 2 weeks fully immersed in the Taylor Wessing environment was truly the best way to gain a full understanding of what working life at the firm would be like, both in terms of the work and the kind of people I would’ve surrounded by. This really opened my eyes to a career at Taylor Wessing.
I found that this vacation scheme gave me a very in-depth understanding of the company culture at Taylor Wessing. The social events were particularly helpful for this, as we were able to mingle with lots of different trainees and ask lots of questions, whilst sitting in the departments allowed me to experience the general office culture firsthand.
The content of this vacation scheme really solidified my intention to pursue a career in commercial law. I found the work very interesting and I loved the fact I was able to work on 'live' projects. Spending time in a number of different departments allowed me to explore different areas of law and find my interests.
Everything Else
I was paid £375 per week, which covered all of my accommodation and travelling costs.
There were plenty of social events with the trainees, which allowed us to network with them. We also had a lunch with more senior members of Taylor Wessing, which gave us a great chance to network with all levels of the firm. Most networking opportunities were fairly relaxed too which made it easier to approach lawyers at the firm.
I very much enjoyed the networking and social events at the firm.
Taylor Wessing offers plenty of pro bono, volunteering and sporting opportunities to its employees.
Yes, I would recommend this vacation scheme to a friend!
