The Role
The internship was really fun! Softwire have a good working environment. There is very little pressure. I was always given enough time and help to finish my work. They also provided very interesting work. I was in a team where we built a game. It was a surprisingly creative process, and also very logical.
I worked in a team of six interns with one trainer. In the team of interns, everyone was treated equally well regardless of background and ability. I felt very valued in general! I also felt valued by my trainer. She would seriously consider our suggestions and often discuss her ideas with us.
My trainer provided a lot of support and guidance. She would give me constructive feedback on a regular basis. We would have reviews on all the work we did, and she would look through and give advice on how to improve. She would also help me out whenever I was having trouble.
I was busy to an appropriate degree. It was never too busy. At no point in time did I feel there was a need to stay back late to finish up my work. At the same time, I never felt that like I was not given enough work. A good balance in all.
As I was working in a team of interns, we often received as much responsibility as we wanted. I took as much responsibility as I thought I could handle. This was a good thing. We were always expected to take responsibility of our work, and encouraged to take more responsibility in other areas if we wanted to.
Over this internship, I have learnt how to code much better. This will definitely be helpful in the future. I plan to do work related to software and so the familiarity I have picked up will help. Furthermore, my logical thinking skills have been improved as a result of the internship - this will be useful in maths.
The Company
The atmosphere is fun in general. There are plenty of events for all sorts of people. They had an origami event and a rock climbing event to name a few. There are also regular events where free drinks are provided - can't really complain about that! Overall it was good and relaxed.
The internship was set up very well and with good organisation. The training was well structured and progressive. I never felt overwhelmed by the amount I had to learn. Transitioning from training to actual work was also very smooth. As an intern, I never felt that Softwire was not ready to manage my presence.
A decent amount I think! We had a full time staff attached to our team. This full time staff accounted for more or less all of the training and development I received. While this may not sound like much, in practice it was more than sufficient. I never felt like I wasn't learning.

Very good! The company is expanding at a rapid pace. Because it is expanding so rapidly, there are many opportunities to be promoted for new comers. At the same time, the organisation appreciates its employees and treats them well. The salary is also a decent salary for a company in London.
The Culture
Yes! Many social outings
As the office I worked at was based in London, the cost of living was naturally high. That said, the salary is scaled to be slightly higher in the London office. I am not sure about socialising because I mostly went for company events, and did not do much outside of that.
Don't know
The company organised many events
